Drifting at Trax - Driftworks Demonstrations - Phil

Trax Driftworks Drifting Demonstrations

For the last four or five years, Trax has been one of our favourite events in the calendar. The crowd just never seem to get bored with seeing us drifting.

Every year, we produce better skilled drivers, and better machinery to ensure we put on a good show, and this year was no exception.

Driftworks had two 30 minute drifting demonstrations in-front of the massive Trax crowds, so we decided to up the numbers again, this year bringing along:

Phil Morrison
Ben Broke-Smith
Brett Castle
Julian Smith
James Hudson
Steven Evans
Paul Smith
Steve Carter
Declan Hicks
Daniel Eyles
Steve Usher

Before each demo, we saw the crowds rushing for the stands, trying to get a prime spot. The place to be was the good old BRDC stand, which gives a full view of the three corners that we used: Priory, Brooklands and Luffield..

These corners are the same as we used to use in the old UKD1 days in 2004, and not one of the drivers had driven the track since then, so precaution was supposed to be the name of the game to start of with. This was soon forgotten about though, and our drivers really got to grips with it quite quickly, and started pushing the boundries (myself included, with a little grass expedition).

The second of our drifting demo’s was even better than the first. Now that drivers were completely comfortable with the course layout, it enabled us to get much closer, and at times you’d see five cars entering Brooklands broadside within 10ft of each other..
Tyres were the real issue. Back in 2004 we’d use one or two sets of tyres in a whole day, but by the time we’d done seven or eight runs, the tyres were on the metal. It still didn’t stop our guys putting on a show, as most of us returned back to the pits at the end of a session on just the rims…

We had an absolutely awesome time. It was so much fun driving the old Silverstone course with so many of our old and new friends..
I would personally really like to thank all of the drivers for putting on a fantastic show, I’d also like to thank Trax for having us, the crowd for making such a lot of noise every time we drove past the stands to return for another run, and last but not least Mark Buckle, who stepped in to handle the commentary at the last minute. You did a superb job mate, we can’t thank you enough.
