We were sat in the office chatting about how much of a legend Tiff Needell is when it comes to powersliding cars around. Every show, no matter what the car was, he would be sliding it around a circuit somewhere in the world with smoke billowing from the tyres. So imagine our surprise when Kam picks up the phone and says ‘Phil, we’ve got Fifth Gear on the phone’.
We’ve worked with Fifth Gear when we helped build a Bedford Rascal for them for a feature they were doing, but then poor Tom Ford rolled it and broke his ankle. Bon’s also been on Fifth Gear teaching the producer how to drift in the Driftworks R32 Skyline. This shoot was a little different – we were asked to judge Tiff and Jasons sideways ninja skills whilst they piloted the new 997 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio, and the new V10 Audi R8 Spider around a drift course. After we showed them what proper drifting really is. We’re not going to give away too much… but have a peek. The new series airs in a couple of months.
Bon surveys the set.
Jason reviewing the script.
“Can you do less smoke? We can’t see anything”. -”No, sorry. It’s all or nothing”.
Tiff wanted to have a go. Such a kid.
Coming up with a battle plan.
Audi R8 V10 and Bruntingthorpes abrasive track… and 5 laps.
