i did something quite similar this winter
tried to get the sierra sideways at about 100km/h in 3rd gear.
there isnt enough power to spin the wheels so i tried to get it sideways with a rather violent "flick".
turned right and then hard to the left while lifting off. instead of shifting weight as it usually does it just understeered into a wall of snow. couldnt do anything about it as the direction of travel was set through the first part of the flick...
solution would be to "simply" stay cool, open up the steering, dont brake and carefully take a line through the bend as wide as possible without hitting the tree. and DONT LOOK AT THE TREE - you always go where you look

i wouldnt say his driving was that bad.
looks like the car was sideways and straightened out too early.
and then was too fast for the corner so he paniked and locked the frontwheels sending him off track
thatīs easy to replicate!
