My RB26 powered JZX81 Chaser

With a combo of not having enough spare time and money to put in to the GTR, and the fact id grown to totally dispise the car, meant I finally bit the bullet and nobbed it off.

Initial plan was to plough the cash in to the S13, but actually having time and effort to finish it was still a problem.

Then, totally out the blue, a type of car ive wanted for years appeared for sale in Japan, in a spec exactly what id want, so I bought it there and then, fricked the S13 off too, and the rest is history.

There is only a few JZX81s in the UK, and ive wanted one since before drifting in the UK really existed properly, so it was happy days when this came up for sale by Ghost Dancer at the right time.

The car in question is a JZX81 Toyota MarkII with a Chaser front end, nicely modified, and strangely enough fitted with a modified Skyline GTR 2.6 twin turbo engine.

In fact what it was being used for was what made me have to have it, I had proof it totally rocked even as it was, and here is the proof-

After a bit of pissing about getting the car on a boat, it was loaded on to a ship in Kobe Japan on the 26th of July, and is landing in the UK on 11th September.

I bought the car mainly as its a complete and working car with some mega mods, but as ever, I blatantly cant resist modding it even more.
I wont be doing much of the work myself at all, ill just pay people. Will cost me more, but ive got no time to do shit myself.
Ill decide what to do, but someone else can do it.

Most important thing for me, as I want to compete in Eurodrift at least, is a bigtime rollcage. Of course this will have to be a custom made job, and I want to do it properly 1st time out.
Ill get it painted same colour as the wheels and graphics, not sure what colour that is yet, white maybe? Bronze? Cant decide.

Speaking of graphics, I want it to look like a proper competition car, which it will be in Eurodrift at least, and will no doubt (well i know i will) be plastering the car in various sponsors graphics etc etc.

Although the wheels are 9x17 all round, and very light and strong, im not a huge fan of em, so some 9.5x18 Rota GTRs or similar are next on the shopping list.
Will put 245/40 tyres all round for now, as you can fit some properly basass wide tyres on the front of these and still get full lock, which is nice.

The rear wing is gonna be removed, and prob leave it wing-less, but a big gay carbon GT wing would prob look smart, as even that shit wing looks good in some pics...

Id like to get a Stack dash or similar, as currently none of the stock dash works (Nissan engine, Toyota dials- what you expect!) which is a shame as its a badass digital dash too. Currently loads of aftermarket gauges are used instead, and though id love to tidy it up by running a Stack, god knows if I can afford it!

Id love a Motec dash and Motec managment as im totally in love with the Motec dash, but im poor, so I can only dream about that I think.

While the dash is out for the rollcage, ill get it flocked, gotta be done.

My line lock will be going in for random innapropriate burnout fun, and if the stock handbrake sucks (looks good in the vid!) ill fit my hydraulic vertical one.

Only other thing I want is more power, not as if its slow, as you can see on the vid, its fast as frick, but I want more.

Main reason is Bonbonbonbonbons one with standard internals 1JZ is about 500bhp and 500lbft on a GT35, and can do 190+ , and I wanna be able to beat him in a race
Blame him and his constant "lets race" comments...

Anyhow, the car is not only drifting, its for FUN, its gonna be finally like my old Cossie was, and will be used for general road based hooning around like a prick, so needs to be silly fast.

Already got an even bigger intercooler, aeromotive fuel pump, and water injection to go on, but obv need more.

I got 2 options here, could rinse the frick out of the stock stuff and get about 430bhp with lots of boost and a good live map (can do that on standard R32GTR managment, contrary to popular belief spread by folk without the right knowlege...), and though that would mean zero lag and fast as frick, its still not enough!

The other option is use the big ass turbo (its a Holset, but GT40 sort of size, 700bhp or so), bigger injectors, decent fuel system, turbular manifold, external wastegate, etc etc and get an easy 550 odd on stock internals...

This turbo-

Tubular exhaust manifold and big external gate I can buy for less than 500quid for the pair of em, so thats no prob.

As the turbo and manifold are T4 flanged with a split pulse housing it should spool quite fast for its size, and I will wrap the manifold and exhaust housing to help it along too.

Next thing I will do, partly as it will spool the turbo RIGHT then, and partly as I wanna, is to run nitrous as anti-lag.
75bhp jet, set to switch off at nearly full boost, job done.

Due to turbo size I should get the power I want on pump fuel at less than 1.5bar no prob, which is important as stock compression is a quite high 8.6:1.

In the future if/when the stocko engine blows up, I got a few options.

I have decided, and its a good way to go, lots of people I know do it now and its a good idea, that I will always run a stock bottomend.
Reason is, on any engine, if a stock bottomend goes pop, you can easy find another quickly and cheaply.
If the bottomend is modded at all, you CANT find a replacment quickly, so your off the road.

Modding the head and all other bits is ok, as they much rarer to go in any real way that means you cant get another etc.

So yeah, if blows I could either stock with stock RB26 bottomend, better head gasket, tidy up the ports, remove the squish pads on the combustion chambers to de-shroud the valves and lower the comp, mild cams, and just keep going like that.
Other option is the stock bottomend RB30 3litre unit, good for 700bhp, but 3litres, and only about 1500quid too. And of course, the aformentioned top end mods.

Final option, which im warming to, is V8 it if the 26 blew. For a unstressed and easy 700bhp and 700lbft with zero lag from a stroked twin turbo 5.7litre Ford V8 (well, id use a Dart block, an alloy one if I got the cash), running thru a Tremec box. Reason this is almost sensible is ive already got the fuel system, injectors, aftermarket inlet manifold, throttle, full twin turbo kit, etc etc etc for this set up, and all parts are silly cheap anyhow...

Anyhow, hopefully the stock engine dont blow up for years and I have no need to worry about it!

So finally, for now, until I pick up the car in a couple of weeks and begin with the mods, a few more pics!

And FINALLY, some photoshopped pics with the rear wing removed...
