by the way when plates are described as 5" they do not have to be square - 6.5x4" 8x3etc is fine if that fits better its the area thats needed

Damn, my 'save Marcs fingers from wearing out' post didnt work.
So basically... if using standard subframe mounting points then no need for spreader plates but if the subframe is bolted to anywhere else on the floor then spreader plates are required.
