i looked into this as i used to do it in my astra, basically, all the research i did lead me to the conclusion that it was much more bother than it was worth, proper biodiesel maybe, but straight veggy oil is a no.
just out of interest, did you escort take a lot of starting? my astra took quite a lot to start it, once it was running it ran fine, and once up to temp it ran loads better than on diesel, but it took like 6 blasts of the plugs and maybe 15 seconds cranking to get a smokey, not quite 4 cylinder start...
