EDC Track at Santa Pod

Hi,

This week we visited Santa Pod to layout the Street Course for Round 4 of the Championship that will be hosted there. As well as this, this layout will also be the basis for the DWYB Advanced practise days for the professionally recognised drivers.

The circuit was laid out by myself (Andy) Glen and Maz with Brett Castle on hand to drive the track and give feedback to its layout and flow.

For all those that have been to Santa Pod previously, the layout is nothing like you would have ever seen and uses the entire tarmac area that is usually running 3 practise tracks. It has a 85mph entry with an instant transition and then directly into a full bore 3rd/4th gear left handed bend slowing into a technical section and then back out into freestyle.

The layout is very fast, tricky to master and extremely exciting to watch (even with just Brett out when we were there ). Although on the DYWB Advanced days the track layout will be the same as Round 4's event, the practise days will have the track marked out with cones.

Come race-weekend the track is marked out with concrete walls and nowhere to go except around the track or into the wall.

The layout is inline with the other high speed and challenging circuit layouts we use with the speed of Silverstone and the wall-faced track scariness of Knockhills blind crest.

A map and layout of the venue is being produced for all to see whats in store for drivers and spectators.

The event will be held over the complete weekend with the finals taking place late Saturday night into the dusk with full camping and facilities on site throughout the weekend and into Sundays extra events. Grandstands are also being installed as well as the specific high level judging areas to create an enclosed high speed track with spectacular action within it.

You can already start to book tickets and camping space for the event directly via Santa Pod themselves, the entire event name is 'Street Nationals' on Pods website.

If you are a professionally licensed driver and meet the criteria for the Advanced practise days at Santa Pod which we have put in place then you should be aware that the first of these days takes place on March 26th and you should contact Santa Pod to reserve your place. It will be the first opportunity for the drivers to take to the track which we have prepared for EDC use and is definately required if you seek to have a good result at that future event.

Details of how to book for the Advanced practise can be found on our website or here in our section.

Round 4 at Pod is going to be awesome and its currently looking like the highlight of the year when combined with all the facilities that are being laid on to support it and the fans who will attend.

For further information on this and all other Rounds, keep in touch with our website.

Cheers

Andy
