Theres your problem, You need an engine lift not a bunch of bloody tic tac buddies!
Seriously though, I assume then if its hovering above the engine bay, you loosened the engine mount bolts from underneath? and were able to raise it that way? I would have suggested dropping the engine back into place and using a 14mm socket however i see that we are beyond that point now

Or HUGE drill and drill the feckers out? done that a few times.
If the bolts fricked then just go with the chisel/grinder/drill thing if not, then drop engine back into place and loosen the bolt with the weight off it.
