doubt its worn out mate, they ususally have quite a good lifespan and prev owner prob wouldnt have worn it by skidding. maybe the rough ground plus hard rear shocks made gripping a bit skippy so wotever wheel had the most grip at the time made it feel a bit sporadic. Try it on a better bit of tarmac. What was the handling like? body roll and understeery or flat and direct?
