Well I would say for any Pro drivers, you might as well meet EDC regs because there is a chance you will move up sooner or later.

Thats what I am doing. My car will be EDC spec by March.

Is there a minimum or recommended thickness for the spreader plates?

Thanks

I couldn't find anything in the rules, I pm'd Marc, he said minimum of 2mm, but 3mm recommended, which is great as I have a load of 3mm plate

Sorry, thought you 'sort of' doing both, just seen your post on the previous page.

I'd guess BDC will not be stricter than EDC though? I'd rather build/modify my car to top level, especially for safety regs.

BDC will be as strict, if you follow the rules and regs, which are pretty much identical to the EDC ones, you wont go wrong

not a problem - i have been helping out on line while they get sorted so in many ways i have been doing both but as i said anything that requires a decision is not up to me

yes, think of FIA as a benchmark for an acceptable level. or standard in equipment, BDC and EDC have aligned there regulations very closely.

why buy twice.....what happens if you end up in EDC

the difference in price between an FIA approved switch and a non FIA switch is a couple of quid

I currently have a oil catch tank from the crankcase breather, it has no sight/level indicator on it though - do I need to change it for one with a level sight?

odd one this really, as before, in other racing ive done, the catch can only had to be easy to check,

as in it had to have an easily accesable balcock type valve that could be flicked open to prove the can had no fluid contents within.....

this is the device i now have fitted to the lex as a coolant catch can.

an easy alternative to the catch can is to fed the breathers back into the intake. its how i did it on mine, just fed the cam cover breathers back into one of the turbo air inlets.....however i dont have any oil being blown about so i suppose its an easy option for me

From this I'd read that you HAVE to have one. Easily visible I guess could mean disconnecting one pipe to check its empty.

Hope we don't have to have one if we retain the standard recirculating oil breather system, as long as there's no way for oil to start dripping on the track/exhaust etc I can't see that being a problem surely?

Ah I was wondering about this as my engine has the re-circulating stuff so that will save me some pennies

Just preparing my shopping list for Autosport on Sunday....

Helmet, obviously has to meet the standards set out, as does race suit.

Gloves - is there a standard these have to meet? FIA? Or do they just need to be fireproof?

Boots - again, do they have to be FIA, fireproof, or just racing boots?
