BDC Round One - Feedback

First off -

This event was a rip roaring load of laughs. It's the first drift compeition i have attended in about a year and it really was a LOT of fun. Mainly due to the fact that there was SO much driving time available. The open practice sessions worked really well and i think the waiting time was the shortest i have been involved with at a competition.

Big hat's off to Sweeps and the team for there orgonisational skills. The event ran near flawlessly and it felt like it flowed from one session to the next very well and time keeping was excelent.

All in all, im massivly impressed and im really looking forward to round two in Wales!

A bit of constructive feedback -

BDC made a massive deal about the pits being closed at 4:00 and security being very tight + anybody without a blue wristband will be slung out on there ear.

I never saw a security guard in the pits once and more so, when me and Matt got back into the pits after the top 16 runs, we were faced with 2 spectators poking around in our pit's with a load of others just meandering around. Anything could have gone missing and we relied on the security to keep an eye on our tools/wheels/tyres etc while we were out driving. This didn't happen and when i did finally find the security guards all 5 of them were cowering under the back of there van door, sheltering from the rain and having a bru. (which is fair enough) - Might be something to address for R2.

Thanks again for a fab weekend!!

From what little I was involved in, and from the rest I experienced, I was very impressed. As a pit-area-miller-arounder, me and my girlfriend were asked a couple of times at random if we had wristbands on (we did). I was quite impressed by it Also the security on the gate was good as they always asked to see our wristbands.

Really looking forward to round 2, especially since I found the cause of my missfire... Ahem... some HT leads on the wrong plugs of the dizzy cap She was not that bad though for a few correctly timed sparks out of 6.

Gutted for you Mike, I saw you come into the pits with a sick-sounding car. I was looking forward to you mixing the Pro competition up

I'd be more gutted about my feeble reason for a missfire if that was the only thing, but the clutch quickly dispatched itself and my rear brake drum collapsed when I ripped up the hydro on t'big track

I look forward to round 2 anyway when I get a bit more time to tidy up the last few little bits for scrutineering

Anyway not meant to turn this into a thread about me, I think the first round was off to a great start and really look forward to the rest of them when I WILL BE COMPETING

Awesome!!

Big thumbs up from me.

It was my first competition and i really enjoyed it from the way practice was run to the qualifiying absolutely wicked weekend and i really cant wait to round 2.

Litlle bit of constructive info for bdc in the evening when security tightened up me and my girlfreind whent to return to my car which was in the pits only to be told we werent allowed in only drivers i argued the point as we both had blue wrist bands which entitled us to enter the pits at any time. The security gaurd disregarded this and said that my girlfreind couldnt come in becasuse she was not a driver??? I think the security should be advised that all persons waring a blue wrist band are allowed in and out of the pits at any time during the day.

Rant over well done bdc and all involved in the running

Right then pit area, I was tasked with keeping out service cars/vans and anything other than drift cars. Most were ok with this and once parts/tools/tyres were dropped off parked up in the outside carpark. Sorry if there was confusion over the outside park not the tarmac bit but the gravel park.
But some were hard to shift, you all got the email and knew the situation about parking.
A big sorry to those that were told to offload in the gravel park. Don't know who did it and again sorry for the confusion.

Right pits access after 4pm.
mr2 which gate did you try to get though? was it the one by the trackside. If it was then this was only for drivers for safety. The pit access fron the track for cars was right behind there you could walk out into the path of a car.
The main access to the pit area was via the drive in fenced area and all blue bands could get in.

Now at 4pm the access was to be closed for cars/parts ect. But for me after the rain and the look from dissapointed drivers just wanting to pack up for the drive home. There was no way i was going to stop anyone wanting to packup. Hope that was ok.

People in the pit area after the 4pm not with the cars/ crew. Well there may have appeared to be joe public in the pits after you came back but they were either sonsers or invited guests, you can't stop them. Unless you want only drivers and one crew in there and upset the people that at the end of the day are supporting the sport with the cash ??
Yes i understand about not having anything to lock up equipment in is not nice, but the pits was too small with all the cars competing. Did anything go missing? I hope not as this would mean the only way forward would be to have a fully closed pits.

I am pissed about one thing though, didn't get to see the practice and most of the qualifing.

And a note the who ever it was i had to ask to move so the ambulances had access into the pits.
Thanks for doing so, not a grumble or moan unlike one of the ambulance drivers who i had to move as the dipshit blocked access in/out.

Top day BDC Team, seemed really fookin stream-lined from my eyes! Also great marshalling from the guys

Only thing I'd pick up on is the PA system; when it did work it was too quiet (only a small thing)

PA system will be looked at a little more, the speakers, and amplifiers were new, but the microphones and receiver was old, alot of the issues were with the microphones and receivers, and.....the water

the biggest problem we were not able to do a test run , before the actual event

As I said in the other thread. Awesome event. I have no complaints.

I admire your dedication to keep the event running like clockwork in a torrential downpour.

BDC for the win

from what i witnessed, the whole event went pretty smooth, even when i was waiting to get back on track one official came up to remind me, as for after 4pm, i was asked a few times to show my wrist band, so to me the security did their job, as for keeping the pits clear there was one 4x4 that was asked 4 times to move rather than use a bit of common sense and park in the appropriate places availiable, we all had emails to explain the whole set up of the event, so if we as drivers listen (we did) and put the rules into effect as asked, then it shouldnt be a problem, as a whole the event ran exceptionally well, i never heard any complaints, so to all the admin guys involved in organising the first round you did a bloody good job,

Fantastic Day! even with rubbish weather still loved it! The amount of track time was superb. Can't compare to other comps as was my first. Bring on Wales.

The only complaint i had regards the pits area from the Track owners was the 2 tyres that had been left by drivers., i mean how can you forget to take your tyres, after everything that was said, were trying to find out whose they are

in the end they were taken by another of the drivers....Thank you

everything else was very clean and tidy, again thank you very much

Yep,
They were also mine - next to the porta bog, to the right of the portacabin?

Collected them first thing this morning and took them home.

Good work BDC team! Organisation was alot and I mean ALOT better than the majority of the drift events i've attended..

Firstly, car parking was excellently patrolled, directed and set out.
Secondly.. Security was tight, not in a bad way, but in a bloody good way.. Consistent checking for the correct wrist bands on entry to the pit area was very reassuring to see, alot of moneys worth of stuff is in that area and it'd be a bitch to have it go missing.
Lastly.. Well organised! what more can you say... track time track time track time.. was brilliant amount of action on track for the spectators throughout the day and for driver warm up.

Only semi bad thing I can comment on was the PA system, but that aint BDC at fault
