Championship Points System?

Sorry if this has already been covered before...

Will there be a Championship points system like last year?

Or will your qualifying laps score now act as the championship points?

Last year it was based on where you came in the top 16 battles rather than the qualifying laps.

Thanks

Baba

Its gonna work on the Top 16 standings obviously. It'd be pretty pointless in having a Top 16 if it was based on Qualifying points.

But how do you work out where each person placed i the top 16?

I qualified joint 4th with Bruno. However i lost to Tom who qualified 15th.

So where does this place me in the event and how many champ points do i have?

It'd be nice to know how the points work for the non-qualifying Ams too - most of us don't get to qualify. Do we get any points? One for turning up like last year?

I figure the 8 people that get knocked out in the first battles get allocated 9th-16th places according to how they qualified (ie the highest placed qualifyer gets 9th), then the 4 people who get knocked out in the top8 battles get 5th to 8th places in the same manner (highest qualifier gets 5th), then the top 4 is decided by the final and the 3rd/4th place playoff.

Is that right?

Need to know the points structure though - I assume there's points down to 16th? With bonuses for 1st/2nd/3rd? something like:

1st = 25 points
2nd = 20 points
3rd = 16 points
4th = 13 points, 5th = 12 points etc, down to 1 point for 16th

?

In which case,

1 Matt Carter
2 Shane Lynch
3 Bruno Esperanca
4 Chris Bradbury

All got knocked out in the top 16 apart from Shane, which should mean that overall...

9th Matt Carter = 13 points
10th Bruno = 12 points
11th Bizzle = 11 points

Well its got to be either that way (which seems fairest), or give 9th place to the person who loses to the highest place finisher - in which case that would be me in 9th because I lost to Shane, followed by whoever lost to Lou, followed by whoever lost to Scotty etc etc

Or you could call all the top16 losers 'equal 9th place' and give them all 10 points or something, and all the top8 losers 'equal 5th place' and they all get 15 points?

But I'm just speculating here - I assume the final standings/points structure has already been worked out by the BDC

What do EDC do? Maybe its the same as that?

Then how does that reward the "better" drivers that got higher qualifying scores?

Im sure Lord Sweepo of BDC land will be along to let us all know shortly

Exciting stuff tho.

Or do it by the person who lost by the smallest margin in his/her battle and if that's equal go on qualifying scores?

I dont know, please someone tell us so I stop thinking about all the possible permutations

All will be revealed very soon ladies and gents...

The scoring system will benefit those who progress through the top 16 battles, that’s the main competition not qualifying

Points for the Amatuer class will only be given to the top 8, again, the finals are the main competition not the qualifying

The qualifying positions are on British Drift Championship so you don't need a point to prove you've competed

Wow, even-number-tastic. At least no one will ever miss out by just one point this year.

Awesome, I am officially the lowest scoring person in the BDC pro Got some making up to do....

Is it happening the way that, you can drop your lowest scoring round at the end? I seem to have that in my head but not sure if that rule is still operating? If not then I hope I didn't screw myself over, well, my clutch
