Question for people with solid bushed diff and subframe, noise question.

Right basically I have now fitted a S14 subframe to the back of my R32, I have used solid offset subframe risers to do this. The diff is also solidly mounted.

I am getting quite a bit of noise from what sounds like the diff, but I have had a few different diffs in it and it always seems the same.

Thing is previously I had the R32 rear subframe in it which was solidly mounted (but without the subframe risers) and I remember it being fine?

So my question is has anyone else experienced this on the road? Is it normal to hear alot of noise from the diff or do I need to be looking for something else that might be making the noise?

My solid mounted s14 is noisy due to the it being amplified through the car. Hope this helps.

Really? That will probably be it then.

Just weird that I never noticed it with the Solidly mounted R32 subframe before?

maybe your older diffs were a bit less tired than your new one.

    Same for me too!

Isn't this the first time you have had it on the road with no interior?

The only difference to the way it was before is I have no carpet. But I don't think that would make much difference.......

I might try and wedge my back seat back in then, cage kinda gets in the way. I don't feel too gangster with an annoying whirring noise behind be the whole journey.

If you've removed the carpet then yes it'll change the noise. The carpet won't stop much noise by way of insulation, but it stops the floorpan vibrating and transferring the noises.

Yes, solid mounts make everything sound broken and loud. When you can hear diff backlash, feel the gears physically binding together in the box, and feel the engine's growl through the accelerator pedal you know you're doing something right.

Jites - Exactly how I feel haha, "shit dawg, I'm a G right now with all these whinings and tings".
When in doubt - clutch kick.
