Anyone got any personal experience with Aragosta suspension?

They seem to be a rare subject on most car forums I've looked at but I've seen a set advertised and they're tempting!

I had a set on an R32 I imported, couldn't fault them, really easy to adjust and gave a lovely firm ride, with no trashy bouncing or bounding they seemed to make the car. They are big money new from the little bit of research I did on them

Thanks for the info guys, something that is common in everything I've read is the high quality of the coilovers

    and the high price tag!

They are way too overrated. I had a set on one of my previous cars.
Bit of history.. Aragosta company was founded some 30 years ago in the Netherlands. Following a series of setbacks, it was taken over by the Belgian company Suspension Technics which continues to produce shock absorbers today. Japan is one of their main export market. They are not JDM as most people think they are. Just because Top Secret Japan buy these in bulk and put them on their cars with their sticker dont make them JDM and dont make them good. Their sponsored cars won few cups then they decided to increase their prices to silly amounts. They are average systems, nowhere near as good as likes of Ohlins etc..

never knew they were European, think a common mistake is thinking their jdm.

So I've got the choice of shiny new hsd's or a used set of aragosta. The price is literally identical What would you guys choose?

I too had a set on my Type R scooby few years back.. They were awesome.
There origin is irrelevant, you can see the quality just by looking at them.. Then there's the fact they are 3 way adjustable, then take into account they don't leak after several years of abuse.. I think they are worth the money they command.
All that said, I wouldn't buy a brand new set, I'd probably go for KW v3 or Ohlins.

^ Thanks for the advice, I've emailed the seller to see when they were manufactured. Don't want them to be super old and near the end of their life!

Id lean towards the known quantity and take the HSD's, as you say, if the Aragostas are 10 years old then they might not be as good as they once were :)
