as for getting you the head, thats not a problem.....i will be stripping it soon, to start the prep for the install of the 2.2 stroker parts

the other generations are all the iron block 3s-ge, and gte as fitted to mr2 ,celica and avensis...plus other models
however the Altezza and Caldina are the only cars fitted with the alloy blocks,
the altezza also has the Yamaha developed head, with the titanium valves

to disable it, is a simple case of fitting a head gasket that blocks the oil drilling in the block
If the VVT is disabled mechanically (head gasket) then it can't be re-enabled without pulling the head, so its worth us looking to see if we can't find a way of doing it another way so that its fully controllable at a later stage. Its worth a few hours investigation with the head, a car battery and a VEMS

so we wish to go with keeping the vvti.....i shall order a "normal" headgasket then.

i have the option of these 2 turbos, but have to decide quick which one.....

HKS GT2540R good for 370hp, and also a GT2835 good for around 400hp

both have internal wastegates, its obviously not a case well one is able to run more hp, which is prolly better for this application, the gt2835 is the more modern of the 2 , the 2540r is now discontinued by HKS

Hold off on ordering the Head Gasket 'till we've got the head at Bens and I've had a look at it.

excellent.....matchams is next weekend

was thinking of passing the head over, unless there is someone coming from over that way who could pass it on.

Which will be the weekend before the delivery date, so I may be working it

Surely you'd be best to bring the bits over in one go when you bring the shell for its cage fitting? Then we can impress you with our charm and banter

i just thought it would give you time to prod and look over the vvti set up,

regarding the cage we need to see what direction these D1 regulations are gonna go!

need Ben to let me know on the 2 turbos.......

HKS GT2540R good for 370hp, or a GT2835 good for around 400hp

suppose i want to know which he thinks is better for power delivery

saying that i have 2 GT2835's on my other car and they spool up from pretty low down

if your going 2.2 i'd go with the GT28, if you design everything properly to work as a system then you will have no problem spooling, or even making power on very little boost.

However, i'm not a fan of toda stuff, and always opt for something else better, and in most cases cheaper.

An external wastegate for starters, have you seen the manifolds that Full-Race do for Toyotas? I dont know much about the dimentions of the ports etc so they may not fit your engine:

erm, nope not external wastegate, the picture was the other for sale....posted by accident

there is no room for external wastegates, and i only found one manifold in japan that would fit, with external.

internal will save a bit on instalation headaches, fitting a 2835 will be bad enough as it is.

the 3s-gte manifolds do not fit the sxe-10 altezza

Look up Tom's Racing in Japan. They do a T280 Altezza, which is the Beams engine turbochaged. These are 280bhp stock.

There might be some info there that might help your build.

RC injectors seem to be popular in the US with the Honda tuners.

They provide an injector sizing page here.
