Hi im new on here as i was told by simon from sjs designs to become a member and put up a post about my new drift project. Rite i and currently building a escort cosworth into a drift car i brought the car as a shell with fully welded rollcage and fully stichwelded shell i was going to put the engine and gearbox out of my 24v cosworth v6 saff drift car into it but i wanted more power than i can get fron the v6 so ive just gone out and brought myself a RB25DET engine and manual gearbox from a R33 skyline so i and goin to fit that now so far i have cut the bulkhead back 8" to make room for the engine im goin for 400BHP i already have a fully mappable engine managment to run it on now i need to get a bigger turbo and bigger injectors. im going to see how it is with that for a while then maybe go for a bit of nitrous. Now as for the bodywork i have fitted WRC front wings WRC front bumper and grill and WRC spoiler and it is goin to be painted white with some funky grafics from simon at sjs designs as my unit is opposits his new unit. I will get some pics soon and keep posting as it progresses more but i want to get it drifting by next summer Cheers for looking and i hope some of you onhere will be interested in my project
You're cutting up a perfectly good Escort Cosworth to stick an old Nissan engine into it and make it RWD? Seems like a waste of a really good car to me. Fair play if you've got lots of fabrication skills and stuff, and it may well turn out to be a good drift car but... an Escort Cosworth? this makes me feel quite sad Edited to add - sorry if this is a little negative. I'm all about encouraging people who have lots of skill and want to build something awesome. Plus it's your first post and this is your first reply so I don't want you to regret posting.
Yeah my mate is saying the same thing as he has a 909 escort cosworth track car but i like to have somthing different so to me its just a car lol i just hope it works or its going to be £000s down the drain
This should be an awesome thing to see if it gets done! Nothing wrong with doing something different!!
Cheers i hope so and its got to get done as i cant affort it now to lol just hope i dont bin it the first time i take it out mite have to fine a drifter with loads of experience to take it out first and try it out lol
i see you have got the dwyb thing from santa pod on your name do you drive there as ive been there a few times?
awww cheers blud Cheers mate ive got a fair bit of drift experience - i have competed in BDC, EDC and JDMallstars and drift at least 30 times a yr at DWYB id be honoured to take you out in your RBEsCos drift machine to show you what it can do - be sure to give it some extra steering lock lock as stock they area bit weak
yeah ive got to get around that bit yey i found that with my sierra it didnt have enough lock im thinking of fitting a skyline steering rack wot do you think?
id recommend discussing rack ideas with swiftmini http://www.driftworks.com/forum/members/19703.html he has done lot of custom work to the rack in his RB25 Sil80 - when i drove it i was amazed by how good the steering was Mr Nick who runs DriftRacing | Drift Lessons Practice | Drift Experience Days has a Sierra with Cozzie V6 - it has pukka lock i think based on a granada set up
Try a Scorpio Cosworth Rack... Also, if you are using Sierra front uprights you can re-drill the steering arm's on the hub to give more lock
ah cheers i did think about the idea of redrilling the hubs but i didnt know how much more lock that would give me. i didnt realise the granada cosworth had a better steering lock i might have to look into that as well cheers
Re-drilling will give you a lot more bud... Mock it up on the car and turn the steering, you will see what I mean! Though you might well wan't some PAS on the go as the shorter the arms, the heavier the steering will be
i will have a look at that i think ive just been reading about your capri i like the sound of it my mate wants a yb powered capri i will tell him about it he will love the idea
crazy fella, like the way you think, should be a sweet motor lots of fab work, but good luck with the build and dont forget the pics.
