Ok, Me and Ben (Optibull) have been talking about getting some more power for some time now and we have both decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

At present we are both running stock SRs at around the 300hp mark running Horshams chips and T28 screaming at 1.3 BAR. We both find that on the larger tracks this power is just enough to hold the drift but not enough to give you freedom to play.

    So.... the plans

    Myself
    Holset HX35 twinscroll
    Full Race Manifold twinscroll
    Turbonetic wastegate
    Nismo 740s
    Z32 maf
    Tomie poncams??? budget allowing
    Metal Head gasket
Engine refresh (bearings, rings, valve lap, hone etc) (Now forged rods and pistons)
    Nistune (greg)

    Ben
    Holset HX30 single scroll
    Japspeed Top mount manifold
    Tial 38mm Wastegate
    Injectors (tbd)
    z32 maf
    Nistune (greg)

Alot of people talk about these turbos but not many people run them, so for the price we are willing to give it a go. So dont go saying you should get garrett because out minds are made!

This thread may answer a few questions for other wanting to use holset stuff. So We keep it updated with the progress and results.

    :D:D:D:D

Alot of guys in the Supra comunity are running the hx30, 35, and 45 turbos. They seem to pretty reliable and capable of good power numbers

ive decided to go for the hx30 and external wategate on a forged sr myself so im interested to see the power figures on both of these setups.

have you heard much on the difference in spool up between the hx30 and hx35???

will be interesting but as far as i know, no ones rly been able to make power low enough down to drift easily with a hx35 on a 4 pot engine...

    Keep us posted!!!

Considering the amount of events Chapmans won or came close to winning since he had his HX35, inc the first event he competed in after fitting it, I reckon he is doing ok, lol.

Still is a 600bhp turbo though, so never going to spool mental low, but lower than most 600bhp turbos ever will (spools faster even without a twinscroll manifold than some 500bhp turbos I can think of), esp if done properly with a twinscroll, something thats not been done with one in the UK yet IIRC.

Nobodys used it on a proper manifold, even Chapman. I'm confident it will spool better and should be able to drive around any lag.

Rich got the HX35 today. I'm not going to pick up my HX30 till the bdc at norfaulk so we can't compare the two yet. But the 35 is huge! We stuck it in the engine bay, cant help but think we may need some more engine to go with this turbo! She's a beast.

The rear flange is a plain V band (not a bolted adaptor like some) need to measure it to order up the flange to make the downpipe etc. Going to need some big bracing the turbo weighs 10kg on its own!
