Hello everyone, Have recently purchased an ex police 3.0 V6 manual omega with the intention of using it for drift days and a possible trip to the nurburgring. Its got the standard LSD which still locks up nicely and uprated brakes and suspension, it handles alot better than i expected and is considerably quicker than my old 530 v8, so well happy with it! Anyway plan is to strip it out, paint it ( probably satin black more on that later!) sort out a few minor patches of surface rust and see if i can find an exhaust and some buckets for it. Couple of pics below showing the interior being stripped, not finished yet! I have also removed the grill, looks better i think! Any suggestions welcome on how to paint it, was thinking either: All satin black apart from bonnet roof and boot Like an american patrol car (doors left white) All satin black Never had one of these before so any info on simple tuning for them much appreciated Oh yeah and anyone know wheres best to get dry ice from, that sound deadening stuff is a real bitch!
Removing that grill has transformed the front, looks amazing. Resiste the urge to paint it satin black - surely there is more fun to be had cruizing up to people with it still in police spec white and watching them get out of your way? You could try writing "Polite" on the bonnet...
I used to have a Black Omega and hanging a hi viz jacket in the back was just hilarious. Hi viz in the back and 65 on a motorway or dual carriage way. You gotta try it. It's just soo much fun.
Ha ha good idea! Im going to be driving it to the nurburgring soon so will have a go at that on the way down!
Leave the seats in! They ride/skid much better Get some late elite 17's fo road and early elite 16's for skidding on, cut a coil out, weld the diff and fit a hydro... 2nd best skid car right there!
erm...abot where? i know that we had -28 in lithuania for two weeks plus, so it was something lol but in london, where i am, it was around minus 8?
Got a bit done on the omega over the weekend. All stripped out now and started getting the sound deadening out with the dry ice, few dry ice bombs for a laugh to! I have decided after the comments about the police spec white to keep it white, so gave it a machine polish which brought up the paint nicley, mental i know polishing this car! Plenty came out After a polish Gave it a service to, engine is in really good condition seems to have been looked after which is a result Its starting to get there, off to the ring next week!
nice project i like the old police cars that engine will be well looked after police over service there cars which is a good thing when buying one
Cheers, yeah i think you are right the engine does seem mint. internals looked spotless from what i can see
The omega made it to the ring and back, got a few laps in as well which was fun, she handled better than expected, got a few slides in round the ring to! Unfortunately it looks like it going to have to be sold due to unforeseen circumstances meaning i have no where to keep her
Its on the bay for 900 buy it now, more than happy to let someone off here have her for around 800 tho. Its got MOT till end of Jan 2011, Tax till end of the month. Gutted to sell it to be honest just starting to enjoy it, let me know mate!
