ok so finally i think i have enough done to start a build thread.
After 3 years of searching and scouring Driftworks forum for information. I finally felt i had enough info to begin the build myself.
I originally had paid a local tuner to build me a drift car. But after a year of being fuxxed around. I simply told him to piss off. Fetched all my shit and began the build myself.

    Bits and pieces

    S14a auto.
    Ls1 v8
    Driftworks full suspension
    Cosbro dry sump
    T 5 borg warner box
    Tilton twin plate clutch

The intention for this build is SIMPLE

Im building a car which i intend to compete in the national series.
I know It’s not going to be pretty! What isn’t going to work must be removed.
All I want from this car, is when a crack that first drift, all I want to do is……”just nod and smile"
That’s the goal. People watching this car may not be in love with how she looks.
But. Let’s hope they ‘nod and smile’

    So fresh off the boat

before i started prepping welds i had the engine and box in to measure up for the engine mounts etc at this time i also messured up the sump. Im running a dry sump. This should allow me to have a real shallow sump. Dropping the motor pretty close to cross member.

sump fabricated. if im honest. This is the 3rd attemp. The first 2 were a total fuck up. Seems i needed to do about 3 km of welding before i sused out what the deal was :)
i guess thats the down fall of doing everything your self. YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE fuck ups. but hey. At least your learning

turned up a spacer on the laith, Im driving the dry sump pump off of the crack pulley. The spacer will locate the driver pulley infront of the crank dampner.

spot welding seems, this is a job for ...god knows who. Its just shit work.
preped and welded the whole car. engine bay, under carrige, interrior.
In hind sight. I should have taken an extra 4 weeks and had the car media blasted. It really would have made life much easier when it came to welding.
and IF i ever do this again. its something i will def do!
got some primer on the car
    [IMG]
with a little help from my girl....soon to be drift godess
    [IMG]
the only bit of rust i found on the whole car was under the battery tray.
I cut it out and replaced the sction.
    also primed the sub frame
    [IMG]
    few coats later
    [IMG]

Loving the dry sump dude, something I want to do to mine. I wish I did my engine mounts like yours, looking at them now it seems so obvious but no I wasted so much time and effort modifying the crossmember :l

Also, something to consider before you finish mounting everthing up, make sure your starter motor still fits. I have had endless clearance issues with my starter vs steering vs headers.

I agree with Kam, the r180 wont stand up to the LS, my LS when stock took a season to ruin a R240
