    Skyline SR32 Drifter

I find myself with another project dirft car, and this time im going to build something to use, rather that go mad with OCD and loads of restorative welding

So Cue the Clark Customs / Slide Motorsport - SR32

Clark Customs are undertaking all the custom fabrication that was seen in my last project and Silde are on hand to help supply parts, knowledge and a stick to hit me when i get carried away !

The plan is for this car to join the current Slide line up of the Rx7, 350z and Adam's R33

    https://www.facebook.com/slidemotorsport

    https://www.facebook.com/clarkcustomsfabrications

    Base car is a R32 RB20 Auto

The car is rust free, which was a must for me as i spent 8 months restoring my last S13 and i dont want to do that again.

I have a Stage 2a Manual SR sat here and think it would be rude not to bolt it up, especially as the subframe is already modified to take the rack forward etc.

I'll be honest, I feel dirty wanting to take the RB out, as the 6 pot sounds awesome. But the RB is 70kgs heavier than the SR, i already have all the tuning bits for the SR and the manual conversion so it makes sense for me.

    Current Plans are:

    - dont take fucking forever
    - S14 Rear Subframe
    - SR engine
    - Cage
    - Paint
    - DRIFT

I've been collecting bits in preparation for the build, including front camber arms and offset rack subframe spacers

The engine is currently for sale and hopefully this weekend i'll have the SR in.

I really need to crack on with it, as im booked into teesside at the begining of july!!

    err no.

For the moment the RB lump isnt selling, and i could do with the cash from it to be honest. So the current plan is to manualise it, (so it will sell easier) and fix this dodgy starting issue. Then i'll look to whip it out and put the SR in there.

Tried loads of stuff to get it starting right but starting to run out of ideas !

RB20 Struggles to start and is driving me mad.

So thats what i'm mainly working on atm.

Still trying to figure out what interior bits i do and dont need. especially as my centre console is odd and i have this random, homemade ish panel, that is held inplace with insulation tape lol

Im intending to just bolt up the S13 cross member, rack and PS pipes, but no biggie if i have to swap the 32 rack etc

It will all go in in one piece mate, only thing you might have trouble with, as I think you said you had the rack moved forward?, then you may have to extend the steering column in the R32.

Hopefully I can just angle the rack back alittle as I did for the s13. Had no idea why every one extends the Column as I didn't need to, maybe it depends

No worries If it needs modifying though

    Well, today was the day!

Clark Customs collected the car and it begun !

Drove the car around one last time then backed it into the back of the unit to start taking the engine out

The crane was a little overkill, but it was there and made the job easy enough

    Engine in

    Engine out

Engine ready to be collected tomorrow by the buyer. no going back now

Heres my Sr waiting to go in

But not just yet, i've got a few things to sort, but im glad the project is finally moving

More progress tomorrow, hopefully i can pull my finger out and get loads done

    Yeah good to get moving

The photo makes the unit look bigger tbh and working around the old man can be tricky at times, but it worked out

Heres a couple of snaps from the last couple of days,

The engine is now in, i've made a gearbox mount and painted it up, had to exend the steering column by 20mm, That was a pig.

God knows how norfy managed an SR swap in one night, The props aint even long enough atm !.. but going to start measuring the auto front prop to see if its long enough etc etc

Engine bay is huuge, you could put a nice V8 in there

I really really wanted to paint the engine bay, take my time and get out the 2k paint, but instead i opted to rub the rust back with paper and then hammarite it. IT had to be done and to be honest, the bay looks fine.

    for the non believers

Heres a shot from late last night, damn the engine looks tiny in here

    the current headaches are:

    - swapping my extended tein steering arms for standard items, (because my hubs arent cut yet)
    - Figuring out if a combination of props will fit, or if i'll have to make one.
    - attempting the wiring lol

    Its getting there though

    More photos later
