4door E30 daily drifter......budget style!

hi thought id share my new project, e30 320i 1990. this old girls been sat feeling sorry for itself in a mates yard for about 6months so finally decided to cut a deal with him.
he removed all the interior and fancy bits to sell and left me with everything else, not bad for £300 i didnt think!



so this is it i had it a few monthes and did nothing with it. a few lads were organising a driving trip to wales. so thought id get things moving, stuck some wheels on it, friend kindly donatated some cheap buckets and harnesses and a fancy steering wheel. and off to wales we went for a road test



removed towbar, what an absolute shitteeee that was! found a hole but that can wait till next week as wales tomo

well we did 540miles in under 24hours, the e30 did me proud to say the least, needed a bit of a drink on route and a noisy rear shocker top developed on way home! not bad for a 22year old car!

next on the list, weld the diff, hydro, sort the dash out and wiring, welding hole in rear panel thanks for looking more updates soon

That looks like a E30 graveyard..... You did well out of that car for how much money left your wallet!

not really done much on it as iv been busy winding down for holiday on friday lol.

once i get back going to hit the charger and try make some progress as the engine power at the mo is pretty poor to be fair!

heres a little pic of the grave yard, there is another one in there that u cant see aswell. also u might spot an s13 hiding amongst the many bm's



oo and i cleaned the workshop unbelievably! even tho it still looks a mess it was ten times worse!!

well its been a while but iv been busy collecting parts.

got myself my old M30 3.5 Alpina engine back which i sold to a friend about 3 years ago. i always said i wanted firs refusal if he sold it, and he test me on a sunday afternoon so i was over joyed!

so got engine
5 series gear box,
e28 rad,
shortened balanced prop mated to 5series flange
mk2 golf master cylinder and servo, wiring loom,
jag oil cooler,
hydro handbrake,
front aluminium strut brace and a few other bits.

il be picking the engine up at the end of this month then its a race to get it sorted for a driving trip on the 17th august

the other week i was driving to girlfriends mums and busted my sump on a raised drain cover! gutted! luckily a good friend donated a sump and got it fixed back up that same night



got her jacked up



worst sump iv broke! i wouldnt have minded but at 20mph! and it wrecked a rubber engine mount, so replaced that aswell

the hydro, done a fair bit o drifting but never had a hydro so this should be intresting!



decided to give the brake servo and master a freshen up ready for all new brake pipes and hydro plumbing which im going to do next week







dont worry im not a clean freak, just killing abit of time at work today lol!

so next job get all brakes sorted remove abs ready for the engine swap in a few weeks......thats all for now!

ok so finally got round to picking the engine up, so its sat it the workshop ready for next week, thursday fri should see some rapid progress







need to get some coolant hoses as they look shagged, and my jag oil cooler unions swapped to suit and possibly a new/good second hand rad e28 one, anyone got one?

also made my hydro handbrake mount bracket, just need to weld it to the tunnel and do all the brake pipes

Is that the 3.5 out of my old e28? I recognise the top hose, and black inlet/rocket cover... And the e28 gearbox. I can't remember what I did with it but it was in 2007.
