180SX from auto to drifter....

Started with this pretty standard auto 180. Wierd place to begin from but hey...

First thing to do was convert it to manual...

Once it was roadworthy, I took it to Eurodrift round 1. The first time I ever drove it was on the sighting lap

(Cheers Ross )

More to come

From there, it was time to prep it for the D1GB day at Donington....

Didn't get a licence, but there you go. Had a fantastic weekend, mind

Cheers Mart

DriftUK round 2....

This was Buff driving here

When it came to Teesside, the car was detting and prompted the better intercooler action. The FMIC had been done to death, and the V mount has problems with bleeding the coolant. My rad is pretty much vertical, so guess it's like an L mount

Wasn't sure how to go about it, and didn't take many pics (got some on my other phone), but most of the time was spent head scratching and waiting for bits from Demon Thiefs....

This is how it ended up today. I still need to get a fan to put under the intercooler, and make the bonnet vent bigger and nicer.

I've said before, I'm keeping this one. It's not the prettiest I've had, but it's time to learn to drift properly

I'll keep you updated as I go. It's getting an ECU upgrade next week to compliment the IC and GT28R, and losing the hydraulic handbrake, as I don't get on with it. I put 200sx rear brakes on it, so the mechanical handbrake locks ups just fine.

Nice work dude. Looks like a nice clean and tidy drifter. And what about that "L-Mount" you trying to start something here Can't wait to get cracking on my cars next week now with the few days off work

Cheers mate. Yeah, gotta be different

The cooler stays really cold after a run, but sat around it gets heat soak, so I need a waterproof 10" fan for it.

*Edit speling*

You could probably invest in one of those pump action bottles that i've seen lads using while drag racing (including fensport). They normally soak the IC, rad and inlet manifold with a misty water to keep everything nice and cool while queuing for the strip.

I'm sure you could do the same until you get the fan and shroud and they're only a couple of quid out of B&Q.

nice car Mitch. Was the swop to manual from auto fairly straight forward? asking because most of the autos seem to be in better nick than manuals
cheers

detting is detonating.

When it ignites at the wrong point. can cause serious engine fuckups....

Cheers for the nice comments folks, much appreciated.

The auto to manual isn't too bad really. I still haven't bothered wiring in the reversing lights, but will get round to it soon.

Fantastic work Mr Mitch, that car had been begging for a manual conversion!

And some nice tasty extras you've added too! I can actually see you keeping this one now as well!
