Just bought a S12... What to do with it?

Just bought a little project, an s12.

I plan on doing some sort of Engine Swap either RB or DET

Fitting camber and adjustables all round

Some nice deep dish retro wheels

Some buckets with a full leather interior (it will be a daily, non track car)

and SLAMMING IT TO THE FLOOR!

Can I use S13 suspension parts? are they a direct fit?

Yeah was going to get another s13 or s14 or randomly a m5 e39 but love the retro styleee

Need to find out what I can fit to it first, if they s13 parts will go on I'll just run s13 underbody and maybe run it with a 20det for a while then look at other options

Oh and I wanna keep it Nissan so no 1J

If I want that sort of power I'll go RB...

Not really into massive bulkhead work though so will probably look at a stroker 20DET fully forged

S13 front coilovers will go on, TBH if you are going to spend the money putting an RB in and drifting it ............. Id just buy a Skyline. It will be grievious putting anything else in the car and youll have to fuck about with the back end to get a decent diff/coilover solution as well. Looks a clean car too, would be a shame to chop it about.

Id personally whack a 1/2 inch BSP pipe bung in the pop off valve, fit a Saab front mount with B+Q pipework and a T25/T28, stick a Walbro fuelpump in, weld the diff and cut the springs and go have cheap, fairly reliable fun, thats what I did with mine

As far as the chassis is concerned I did everything you can do to an S12 without modifying the shell and TBH it was the biggest chunk of ARSE I have ever known. There's absolutly zero parts avaliability for like 99% of the stuff you'll need and the S13 based conversion is totally hit and miss. It occured to me one day; should I stuff it into a wall and do a wing or a suspension arm it would be months before I could find replacement parts. If I wallop an E36 on a weekend driftday I could have it rolling again in a matter of days.

Either do it on the cheap, as docwra says, or just get something decent to begin with. Or atleast something you can parts for. Except for some private-land streeto I never got to drive mine properly because I got so sick of spending time and money trying to find shit and then make it work.

Edit: Oh I forgot one last thing. If you want to do the big conversion thing then power to you. Draconis on S12Silvia has an RB26 S12 so knows his shizzle and is happy to help others but as a "project" drift car honestly I wouldn't bother.

Whats involved in using the rear craddle from the s13? A mate has a shell lying around so could be worth an experiment..

    I'm bored of the s13/14

I love the lines of the s12 but with the inners from a 13/14 would be ace

I use Thor Motorsport for my work and I'm sure they can do some sort of cut and shut!

    read and digest.

either do it on the cheap or buy something else. as spending proper money on it, especially if your paying someone else to do the work, will work out the biggest waste of time and money ever, as to get it even close to having an engine swap and converting it to s13 suspension will end up costing you more than it would of to buy an absolutely mint amazingly setup powerfull s/r body to begin with!
