Sr20 n/a 13 ....formally known as captain slow

So after a lot of umming and aaaarrrring I decided to get another s13 to play about in , found a relatively "sorted" one ..... Or not!

    b27ad910.

Well I got back with it and was very dissapointed with the ca18det , so was left unsure what to do.... Alot of people I know are going rb25det or 1jz or v8 and as I'm a novice and not very good wasn't sure which way to go .....

For some reason I wanted to be different and wanted a reliable engine ....I bought my self an sr20de to stick in my 13 , I know I know why not a det etc de is Low power blah blah but like I said I fancy being different .

So Friday I started pulling the ca out was easy and out in no time ;)

    5DD3BD90-357E-45FF-950B-A1B152624CB3-9912-0000074FAE94B47A.

    ADE255D9-B296-49E8-AA12-3452BA081400-9912-0000074FBB4FBA9A.

Gave the engine bay a quick wash and degrease before putting the sr in.

    ECCCD2DF-C210-4D43-92B8-E4CBBB8F7F39-9912-0000074FC3168C0F.

Well what can I say other than f**k f**k c**k f**k , absolute ba***rd to line up both mounts ( hockey pucks) and gearbox on my own . A lot of F ing and it was in ;)

    94111B42-4642-4FB8-BBB5-09962F4E3CC6-9912-0000074FDB48ACB1.

I plugged in the gearbox loom and it cranked over !!!
    Very happy indeed;)

Do I was up early Saturday things to do-fuel lines
    Water pipes
    Rad
    All ancillaries
    Beer
    Beer
    Food
    Beer
Which I was successful and hey presto she runs!! Only thing spearing not to work is the rev counter though

    8B53AE91-5AE2-444E-AD84-8D91ADEFDFF0-9912-0000074FE82DEE64.

Again up early Sunday and another list
    Prop
    Exhaust
    Strip interior
    Start putting goodies in
    And Ofcourse a test drive

The s13 prop fitted lovely which was a good job, went to put the exhaust on and lined up ok but I thought it was very low....
Started her up to bleed water b coolant and my god it's loud!!!! And for some reason was idling lumpy ;(
I cleaned the dizzy and rotor , cleaned plugs checked vacuum hoses and all earths ... Started it up and was slot better but still a little lumpy..... I was told it has tomie cams in to match the tomie ecu so I'm putting it down to that;) Ofcourse excited ment took over and up n down the road I went .... It picks up pretty bloody well and it's loud but it's bit weird waiting for boost that's not guna come;)

Then crunch.... Yes exhaust is too low and now has a tear in the silencer ... And locals don't look impressed;) but I am very happy chappy

    Next I've got to fit
    Camber arms
    Front tension arms
    Updated anti roll bar
    S14 front lower arms
R32 steering arms with spacers and ends
    Welded diff

Then alignment and few bits wanted
I'll update more pics etc tommorrow

    Why buy a turbo?
Yeah went really smooth , driveway engine changes can go either way hs ha
Yes the engine seems really good and the few bits already on it obviously helps;)
And trying to skid it should be loads of fun;)

Quick update all, sorted out some headlight and indicator issues....

Had a quick tidy up of inside ,,, rear strut brace fitted and put a battery box in better as it was moving around.....

Then I cracked on and changed the camber arms, not a fancy make but will do the job...I'm definately going to need to roll the arches to poke the wheels out a little more.....

And the put a much larger rear anti roll bar on

And put it all back together, that's pretty much it for the rear for now.

Next up will be the front end , which I will tackle very soon,

    Got this lot to fit....

And this turned up today , not genuine but still shinty goodness

So the de is still running sweet, need to sort my leaking exhaust then thats a job done .....and I may run it round as my daily when the trackings done .

Ben!! Cars looking good mate. This was my first S13 before I bought the ps13. Bought it completely standard, good to see its still going :)

Ben White who bought that intercooler stuff off you ages ago did all the bodywork and wheels, those HKS coilovers were off my ps13 from Japan :). Glad its being looked after mate!

I knew it was originally from this way, I'm liking it more and more everyday, the Coilovers look like awesome bit of kit.... Bit different with the na in it ..... I'm sure I'll bump into you at a drift day mate ,,

Got the alignment done after all the arms were done, drove it down the road the the place... Very scary front wheels were well pissed catching,,rubbing, squealing all over the place ;) hot the alignment done snd wow what a difference ;) feels very nice and a little skid attempt on the way home went well ....

Next I've got to sort the exhaust out as its blowing and rattling and rubbing on stuff, got the diff to fit, and got the arches to flare as my tyres dont like my rear arches!!

Engines running well and very responsive , havnt pushed it much as got to sort the little bits out, got an oil cooler on the way and a power steering cooler to sort for good measure... Over kill I know but being prepared for every circstance.....

More updates soon snd skidding soon

Little update , fitted the diff this morning ....

Out with the old and pump and cooler bit of weight save.

Then changed the backing plate and nose to an abs unit,

Fitted it all went for a little test drive.... I like it a lot ;) the car feels really good apart from my exhaust hitting everything and my arches shredding my tyres,, so that's the next job,

Was standing admiring the beauty when I noticed that it was very lop sided , measured the Coilovers and the fronts were 18mm different and rears 15mm different, so will sort that ASAP and then next weekend will be exhaust and flaring I hope.....
