    CVH sierra sapphire going 24V

been on here a while now and been doing the usual gay arse trick of asking shit questions and posting about skid cars without ever having tried it, i decided to sort my life out once im back in the uk so i bought myself a sierra sapphire to learn to drift in and to save me smashing my cortina up again, pics speak for themselves.

the car looks pretty tidy from what i can see and from what the previous owner told me, hopefully no surpries when i get back from tour at the end of next month, will sort the few scabs out straight away and fit the usual cossie bumpers skirts and 4x4 bonnet seeing as i have them put to one side, wheels will be coming off as soon as i can find a decent replacement im after a decent set of rota rims or im thinking of banding the 16" steels i have, the car already has some aftermarket shock and lowering springs so will see what they are like (not fitted in pics) power wise the 1.8 cvh is going to be replaced by the 24V BOA in my cortina.

pic of the donor engine in my cortina

and the reason its not staying in there

caused by a combination of a decent engine in an old bus frozen roads before six in the morning and obviously a shit driver.

was considering keeping the engine in the old car and buying a BOB for the sapphire but decided to break one of my bikes and build a decent 2.0 pinto on bike carbs for the cortina to use a fun weekend toy for me and the misses, apart from not wanting to strip the sierra or make it too uncomfortable im going to try and make it a half decent skid car and try and get as much seat time as possible not looking at any fantasy shopping lists just a decent handling setup and to make it look half decent, been in talks with mitch as to what to do with the car and im more than willing to take advice/idea's from people.
    cheers steve

Apart from the arches it looks pretty clean. I never knew you crunched the Cortina though.

    Good luck with the project

yeh thought i told you mate was on my way to work before we flew out on tour fucking freezing weather and loads of that salt grit crap on the road, got a bit impatient and floored it the auto box stuttered then dropped down two cogs was a nightmare to hold with the electric power steering i had no feed back and the rest is history, the tina will be back on the road ive already got all the parts i need im just undecided on sticking a decent pinto in it or keeping the 24V and buying another for the sierra.

yes, only a few little modifications must be done, like spacing the rear hubs avoid camber (and castor) and the front top mount is different, you can mod the upper spring section, or machinery a spacer between the knuckle and the damper (sierra 46mm-granada 51mm)
or if you find, can use 4x4 sierra dampers or coilovers, same size as granada.

saw you at the other thread about diffs. dunno your area, but here we do NOT weld LSD-s, because they worth to sell, around 100quid and we buy open OEM diffs to weld, around 10-20 quids. also 95- scorpios have various ratios from 3.62 (3.91, 4.09) to 4.27, this we use under the 24v sierras.

after doing a bit of digging and realising that ford wheel choices are a bit gash im fed up so ive settled on a set of escort cosworth 16"x8" for daily use.
got most of the other parts i need stockpiled now just need to get back to the uk and get the build started along with some pics.

Do the 5x112 granada conversion, there are lots of badass dished wheels for mercs.

right seen sense and been helped a lot by my mate at home he collected the cortina for me so its now in the lockup in manchester waiting for the rebuild to start, apparently the inner wing is mint all i needed was an outer which i have sorted and a front panel so they will all be on and in primer next week i hope, engine wise the 24V is staying in the cortina and the auto box is staying for now future plans will just be to fit a decent slipper and a proper exhaust so ive got a decent grunty cruiser, the sapphire will be getting a pinto turbo seeing as i almost have the bits to build a strong engine, so far i have collected the bits below.

    205 block (bare)
    EFI head (bare)
    185 crank
    cossy T3
    cossy rods
    original cast turbo manifold

the bits i still need are decent injectors management yb pistons and a few extras, could do with a good line on gaskets as people seem to think yb gaskets are not the best for sealing the pinto head and block together, also looking for someone that knows what they are doing to lighten balance and polish the bottom end once its all ready including pistons/rods, im looking for a solid 280 to 300hp for daily use and skid abuse at weekends not a highly strung piece of shite that is off the road more than on it, i know i keep promising pics and they will be up as soon as i land in the uk around 24th.
    cheers steve

passionford was for a good price but unlucky for me i collected it last friday and it blew the head gasket half an hour down the road, the car is now at a mates garage in manchester having the cvh sorted so its cheap to run whilst i sort everything else out then the new pinto turbo will be built up, progress is seriously slow and i never get pictures of anything on a good note anyone got a cage for a saff needs to be a working job no show items.
