On my quest to get into Motorsports after slaving away as a car dealer for too many years I've taken the plunge and purchased a rare Toyota JZX90 Cresta! I've always wanted to get into Motorsports and it's a now or never type affair! I've never actually drifted, the odd Jeremy Clarkson peel out of a junction lol but that's it so it's time to take action, drift world here I come! The JZX90's are quite rare, think of a 4 door Soarer running the same 1JZ. Mine is an earlier NON VVT-i so has lot's of potential! Converted from auto to manual in Japan using a R154 gearbox and remote shifter. They do a Cresta, Chaser, and Mark II in JZX90 form, same goes for the later JZX100 and JZX110. Mine is the luxury version (Cresta) with great cult status in Japan, popular with naughty people, ideal! Here is what she looked like in Japan: Since then she has undergone a few owners in Scotland so is a little "weathered", just needs a really good tidy & some love. I went all the way to Scotland to get her and drove back on a 7 hour hike, mission but glad I made the trip. Budget sardine airways for the win: Finally back on home soil at Project D in preparation for Pod on the 17th of Nov: She will be living at Project D while I get her ready enlisting the help of anyone who cares Outside Jamies Body Art Paintwork in Guildford: I bought a vertical Hydro from Comp Brake , a willwood master cylinder to go with it and some Hel braided brake lines which are of really good quality. Will be going single turbo next year but going to enjoy what she has on offer as the year closes and get a few practice days in. Using Mitto's old car as inspiration: Hopefully one day my middle name will be Sato Anyway just an intro into what I will be up too. I'll update the thread as I go on as best as I can with spec and pictures. That's it for now. Cheers!
Looking good! Looking forward to seeing how it all comes along. What's it like underneath if it's spent a few winters in Scotland? What car did you have before this then?
heard you go past mine other nitewhen andy rang me at silly o'clock...lol love the sound of a 1j bouncing of the limiter at gone midnight
Cheers, it's not bad to be honest just needs a good tidy but I've got all the love to give I've had some pretty mad cars, being a car dealer it comes with the territory Never actually skidded though apart from the odd inappropriate action in a car park I did say it was a little late to him sorry lol Gotta meet up some time Your E30 looks mad
I've spent a little time around this car and it really is lovely! Did you see the feature I shot of it? Looks like it's gone to a good home!
Will do for sure how is your car coming along any luck getting her mended? Nice to meet you the other day. I did was it this one: CARSPOTTING> Scotland Street Style Redux – MotorMavens | Car Culture and Photography You can do another one next year Good pictures though your great at what you do. Thanks have read your build I like your Soarer, funnily enough my Dad had one back in 1995 when it was near new, imported it! I think it was 1 of 2 in the UK, but V8 auto. Great cars, I'll keep an eye on your thread I like yours I think yours is bigger though? Will do my best, once the rough edges are removed it will make my life a little easier though but granted seat time FTW. Gonna pop down tomorrow and say hello, wasted my life all day today at the auctions
Bit of progress last weekend, the velour is gone and so is most of the interior. Still have a little more to do up front and plan to tackle the sound deadning on the latter part of Friday can't wait, got a bit carried away. Will get it all tidied and get some door skins made after the rear window gubbins are out. Booked into Nickson Motorsport for a 6 point roll cage first week of Jan, through dash so will be modified after cage is in: @ Andy's under reepers E30, cool looking car: New disks are on as well as all new fluids inc gearbox, diff, brakes, power steering, engine 10w60 millers etc, and screen wash, and wipers as I can't see in the rain. Andy spotted a few little bits I didn't see, he is anal, but that isn't a bad thing when it comes to cars. Over next few weeks he and I (where applicable pending work load) will be getting her ready for its first bit of fun at pod. Still need to fit mounting bracket for hydro, lock spacers, tidy interior, powder coat wheels back to gun metal grey, source some more wheels, re affix intercooler/oil cooler as poorly mounted, new plugs etc. And that silly white ring thing which looks like a bum piercing is coming off, apparently it's from the Tokyo subway according to my drift gimps, maybe I could use it for passengers to hold on instead? Need some quick release catches for the bumpers so I can remove for practice, don't fancy sourcing new ones. Also hunting for a new fixed bucket as well, been looking at some of the Sparco ones as they seem to be good quality and reasonable priced. Found a chap online with a nice Bride, but not confident it's big enough for me and is in Scotland so can't try it. Trying not to get carried but already considering perspex lol. Anyhow will get some more progress up soon. Dale hopefully see you tomorrow or Friday and well done on your BDC Licence mate! T
haha i see your bonnet remains clean lol nice to meet you too mate... i know of somewhere locally that flocks dashes if you were removing yours and wanted it done at same time ps stick to cable ties (inside of bumpers) for easy removal... i used the spring latches on the 180sx but they pop of on the slightest of bumps on track and just drag the bumper without you knowing... not to mention you then have to drill wholes in your panels and with yours being a difficult car for parts id avoid personally
Yes I am When did you see it bud? Interior is crusty and 18 years old, it's not like it was in Japan, it hasn't been cared for particularly, but will be in due course.
No brake fluid haha, good tip re catches just wanted a fast method to take everything off but makes sense. Open to info lol
cable ties are fast man... keep a pair of cutters in the car and snip snip.... hook up at 4 points and takes seconds...
yup as reeper says. Keep to the cable ties. I ditched the OEM bolts etc for cable ties on my x100 aswell. Makes thing alot easier.
