Picked up the new base car, Toyota Altezza SXE10 with a pretty good shape chassis, no damage and very little rust etc.. This particle one is actually an is200 with a 1gfe, this blew up on the way home, couldn't be beaten by a damn focus could I!? Started work on stripping the car.. First the interior was removed, then the dash board, heater matrix, etc.. Iv chipped up all the sound deadening material, there was 8kg of the tar based matting... Total weight of all the sound deadening inc bulkhead insulation, underside of carpet sound insulation, etc was 62Kg. Iv also removed the heater matrix, most ducting, unneeded interior parts etc totalling a weight of 41kg. The original front seats are 12kg heavier than the seats I'm fitting. That's a saving of 115KG so far.. Iv still got a lot I want to remove in the way of wiring from the body loom.. The car will still be road legal but things like abs, airbag, electric windows/seats/sunroof/radio/heater system, etc wiring will all be cut out. The 1G engine and gearbox have also been removed, the engine was weighed in minus a few useful bits and bobs, the gearbox is probilly going to make its way onto my friends AE86.. As many of you know, I have my 1JZGTE & R154, this came from my JZX90 Chaser, then spent a while in my JZS160 Aristo and now going into the Altezza. It's been pretty much standard setup till now.. Engine out to change Water Pump from HydroFan to Non hydro... Also- Fitted modified sump.. Fitted pipes etc that are hard to get to once engine is in place.. Rotated Oil Flter Housing.. Nut and bolt check, etc... Its a low mileage, well serviced engine so mainly just a good check over and service.. Fitted custom made Remote Shifter... Anyone that's done this will know the rear half of the gearbox housing has to be removed, so the gear set was visually inspected with good results, then resealed back together... DW LightWeight Flywheel.. Got a TRD Paddle Clutch too.. ARP Flywheel Bolts.. New Centre Bearing... 1JZ removed from the Aristo.. Turbos removed, new Manifold fitted... Chucked engine in Altezza on original mounts.. Iv got another front subframe coming so I can modify it and get the engine sitting an inch further back. Just wanted to see how it fits and start to think about where I want the Wastegate and Exhaust Downpipe etc.. The engine already has a Modifed sump from when I fitted it to the Aristo, so it can sit lower down and further back, although its a load of extra work the ballance of the car is greatly improved. Turbo im using is a Holset HX35 with a 12cm Exhaust housing. The exhaust housing has been modified.. The internal Wastegate hole has been welded shut, this was filled with a plug so the flow inside of the scroll is not disturbed by a cavity. I also crafted and welded in a plate to cover the gap in the outlet, again this was done so the flow of gas is not disturbed. *Pic of turbo coming soon* Just welded and shot blasted exhaust housing... HKS GTll 60mm External Wastegate.. NEED FLANGES.. Do you have?? More updates coming soon..
Sweet!!! Very nice man. Great car, great choice! Nice to be different - cant believe there are not more pro-drift spec Tezza's out there. Good luck
Will be good to see an altezza (is200) sideways making sexy noises and smoke. Wish I could skid mine.
fuck yeah man, this is going to be great! Fingers crossed you can have it ready for the first round @ Lydden Hill!
