(aus) 1jz fc vert heya guys. been a lil while since ive been on here.. and im kinda bored. so thought id chuck up deets of my latest build. s4 FC RX7 vert... ill let the pics do the talking. started life like this. old owner. bog stock. fresh rebuild 13bt. fresh paint. bought for next to nothing bought a month before a drift event i wanted to go to (mates birthday bash) so with that approaching i hoarded bits whilst i was away... with a week until the event. i got home and got cracking seat, shifter and wheel in. coilovers in (CSTs) chucked some equips on. lowered it. got an exhaust done. DTSS eliminators. toe arm and a weldy... chucked my 040 fuel pump in from a previous car and wheel aligned. all ready for this drift day! cruised on down (130km drive to the track we were going to) and i wish i could upload all these dope pics of it sliding and generally having a fun time.. but i cant. as it lasted 3 fucking laps before i had issues. didnt know it at the time. but the fuel pump shit itself in a big way. i chucked it in the shed after i towed it home. cracked the shits with rotaries (rotaries suck the dick) whilst working away i formulated a plan.... so out came the rotary. it was still all healthy. i sold it complete to a guy in brisbane whoms putting it in an old 626. fuck yeah....
so that left me with a rolling shell of a piece of shit FC. a plan formulated. word got out. everyone hated the idea (funilly enough everyone here hates LS's into imports motor out. new motor arrived (ls1/t56/freshclutch and tune) motor mount kit ordered and here. bunch of other stuff arrived to... willwood pedals, new sump and baffle kit etc. sump mounts etc all on. in it goes. trial fitting random HSV headers amity approved! more after the next post...
interior apart.. trans mount done HURST shifter sorted and now installed origin gear ordered.... why? because of wheels that are coming... trialling radiator set ups trialling gpsports aero and origin fenders. wheels rocked up...
and heres how its sitting currently... the to do list is getting shorter and shorter. bit of a transformation over the last 2 months. and interior being pieced back together while i sort out a full rewire/custom dash. i work away for a couple weeks at a time... so next time im home its tailshaft/powersteering lines and begining on the wiring side of things. then its paint/radiator/skid time!
haha yeah sure am.. its easier for me to upload pics from instagram to facebook then to my build threads. for those interested my IG is driftrx im away again for two weeks for work (work on oil/gas rigs here in aus/nz/png. but im hoping when im home next to have my tailshaft, power steering lines, intake done.. radiator mounted and wiring started. pretty much the only mazda stuff left is the doors, boot, bonnet and dash. heres hoping it actually skids half decent!
ordered this painless kit. everything to redo car. will know how painless it is soon... found a matching bride seat. pick that up when im home. also ordered all my fuel fittings/corvette FPR/filter/lines. with some luck itll be running this hitch home.
so the only reason you got rid of the 13b was because the new pump you fitted for some reason, was shit? lol
i was essentially looking for any reason i could to ditch the rotary tbh. ive had this build stuck in my head since i was 17 or so (back then LS swaps werent a common thing) now that im 26 i can actually afford to do it. so yeah. this whole swap was triggered by a stuffed bosh fuel pump haha
Haha.. I just got rid of my Volvo 969 2.3 turbo manual because a fucked fuel pump relay.. I feared some crazy conversion like this was on the cards so got rid quick..lol I'm gona add you up on Instagram, want to follow this project
Like! Why do people hate on ls into an import? Over here people hate on bmw v8 swaps.... i see a theme here......
its funny how quickly things go out of control.. i was going to be just happy with the LS in and leaving it like that... then i found the wheels. then i needed the origin stuff.. then i looked at wiring so decided to redo it all... then i need a fuel system and thought i may as well do it half decent. snowball effects a wonderful thing haha (not so wonderful for my wallet)
and i honestly dont know why. over here people think its "cheating" to have something like this in a light import.. keep in mind these are the same guys with 350kw rb25s in s14s and such... i just seen it as the most viable/reliable option. LS motors are cheap, boxes are strong, parts are easy to find etc. and they make good power and tourqe. cant go wrong! (until it throws a rod out the block or similar from over revving haha)
got word yesterday that my wiring kit and my fuel bits have already arrived. (got them sent to my office) so looking full steam ahead to have this thing almost running when im home.
