Hi to everyone. Sorry for my English, the last known speaking was in school)
From 2008 drifting was in my dreams, but from 2011 dreams come true. I bought BMW E36 with M50B25TU it was in pretty good condition. After year of trainings I have decided to make a true drift car. So welded cage, M62B44 with M60 ECU, welded diff, custom steering angle, suspension is stock.
Car is almost ready to ride in a championship but right now there is no such opportunity for me.
    Some photos and vids.

    I have questions.

How did you manage the sump / crossmember clearance issues?

Also, what kind of exhaust manifolds do you run? Again, thanks for the info.

Manifolds are custom made from E34 540, but manifolds from X5 E53 4.6 is almost perfectly fits to E36 with M60/62 engine.

It looks the same for me, I find it in garage, it flows pretty well, so I decide to install it. I think it was taking off from something like this)

The car sounds awesome. Good work with the engine swap. It makes me hate my M52!

Great project, glad to see an actually realistic problem to the sump issue :D

Been looking on *.ro forums, and it needs some more mods to put the engine in there. The steering rack must be moved closer to the subframe to let clearance for the already modded sump. Because of that ,the steering linkage needs to be shortened.
As for engine mounts, they are custom and end up in front of the subframe like in a E30, so it needs some plates welded there.
Then, there is the exhaust and all the anciliaries(anyone who has done an engine swap knows that very well), not as plug and play as it can look.
Anyways , it is a very cool and "cheap" project, if you can weld and fab yourself
