Come read this , crazy build here Hi guys, am from quebec canada, i follow this forum for a while and one of my friend told me to put my build here. Am not an anglophone so please excuse me if my sentences are kinda weird sometimes but i will do my best. I will update the thread shortly to explain and everything. 2013 History: I bought this "car" as a non-rolling chassis in February 2013. The chassis was in good condition so far (here in canada we have huge winters so our cars don't have the life easy). The car was stored since 2008 but it ran only for few months. Before theses months his last days as a daily driver was back in 2002. Photo when i bought it: The car needed a lot of work to put it back as a rolling chassis. Maybe i will update the progress someday. Here's what it looks in the beginning of may I painted the car myself with some rustolum paint, decent job When i bought the car it has no engine. I got a deal for a rb25det. I redo and repainted all the interior too. The last owner tried to swap an s14 coils-over on the car but his shock tower was horrible as you see in the beginning pictures, i had no choices to redo them but the s14 struts are extremely long so it looked like crap. Dyno ready Putted down 264whp at stock wastegate psi (8 i think) I drifted the car all summer long but the problem with theses cars are the rear semi trailing arm suspension geometry. I bend my two lower trailing arms in the summer (poor arm conditions because of rust). So i thought to myself that it would be nice to have an s13 rear subframe assembly to get their geometry so it began as my winter 2014 project. Heres some random pic of the car in the summer: So this is it for tonight and for 2013. I will update the post tomorrow for the 2014 build-up. Here's a preview:
2014 winter project. This winter my project for the car was: 1-Fix the overheating issues (i had a stock rad and a push type fan set up.. ) 2-fitting the s13 subframe assembly 3-Full interior roll cage 4-tubular front end (for rad clearance) 5-custom s13 overfenders + fender flare in the front 6-Ackerman cancel + widened lower table in the front+push the steering rack forward + custom knuckles 7-new suspension set up So it began slowly in november 2013. With the lack of a lift, and with the amount of work underneath the car i decided to flip it upside down. Old subframe assembly S13 subframe assembly test fitting With the amount of work to do, i decided to correct the rollcenter. So i pushed the subframe the farthest up to the inside of the car. The subframe pik up points goes directly into the rollcage, so in the front i made some sitting plate and putted my tube straight in the inside of the car I also putted the exhaust straight into the car frame rail. For more ground clearance. Car flipped , ready for the rollcage. For the cage, the idea was to build a chassis structure that will support the subframe and his forces stress. So i began with the roll bar. I had to build the rear subframe supports. I made them directly in the cage The seat bar, note that the seat will go down. Here comes the bracing time. I had to build new shock tower because of the subframe so i saw on the net that some folks from GKTech.aus were doing an s13 tubular chassis. I got my inspiration from them to do the shock towers. A good friend of mine here in quebec build drift cars for maybe 4 years. He gave me a lot of tricks and helped me a lot. His shop is called Pro-fusion. So here's the rear cage structure. Update on next post
I also redo the driver floor pan And i finished the rear brace for the frot subframe pick up points I had to close all the floors too Finished the A-pillars I did my doors bar this week saturday I also welded my a-pillar gusset and my roll bar gusset Fitted the asd e-brake Shaved up the bay and started the front end The upper rad support bar is missing in the front. After that it will be done for the front end. The last picture is yesterday (sunday 9th February) so the next updates will be done in comments. Thanks Alex.
Rad support /hood pin support. Extended lower control arm And the car take some fresh air to allow me to clean the garage Tomorrow my buddy from wideworks canada come to fit his custom s13 overfenders on my s12. Should be sick.!
