So.. this is what I´ve been building on and off for the past year or so.

copy´d this from another forum I also am posting in.

    Posted 20 May 2013

This is my 1980 corolla wich I have owned for 3 years now but first started to work on about a month ago.
still a working project but will hopefully finish the mechanical stuff in 2-3 weeks

I'm putting in a Volvo B230FK engine and m90 transmission.
With 700cc injectors and 16t volvo turbo and about 18-20psi it will be around 250+ hp
    All controlled with MS3

I used s13 running gear in the front but with custom made lower control arms.
    s13 coilovers front and rear

I put a 1980 hilux rear axle and vw rear brake calipers and front hilux brake discs.
    some pics of the process

last year I had already fitted a ca18det engine and transmission, but when I took the engine apart I realized that the engine was blown.

brake clutch and gas pedal ready. Made the original gas pedal fit the volvo throttle cable.
    This was originally automatic.

Moved the fuse and relay box into the car.

making finishing touches to the engine bay

clutch and brakes ready and everything works as it should
    [IMG]

In the end I got this finished and registered
the car handles great, still need to do some little tweaks
but I´m very happy with the outcome of this build

couple of pics from the 1st test of the car

    -Update

So.. we went out to make a few test runs and a fuel map for the car
and at 5000rpm in 4th gear this happened :/
we were lucky it didn´t go all the way through.

having a new stronger one made at the moment

small updates at this point, ordered a new turbo cam and some maintainance stuff for the engine, and all poly bushings both front and rear.
    polished the rear wheels :)

    -update

Put my new camshaft in. It has a higher lift and really makes the engine come to live after 5500rpm were it lost all it´s flow before.
its a turbo camshaft from ipdusa.

here you can see the difference on the new and old cam
    [IMG]

also put in a new distributor and cap and some new spark plug wires
    [IMG]

Did a little buffing on the roof, hood an wing. Thinking about keeping it this way until next winter. just buff the rest of the car.

    -16.4.2014

Put in the original front swaybar, with super pro poly bushings
And also did the rest of the bushings front and back
Whipped out the diff and put a spacer in the lsd locker.
ordered 7cm wide plastic fenders and 4x114.3 to 6x139.7 adapters for the front wheels

bushing porn for you weirdos who are into that..

Sh*t man, lucky one with that prop! Maybe invest in some kevlar tunnel guards!

Sweet built though mate :) will be super sweet once it's done! If only it was a 5 Banger, would sound AMAZING!

    Thanks :)
I live in Iceland and this was the best thing I could find to put in the car at the moment.
And I also like the old school look of this engine, and its potential for big hp ;)
I will put some guards front and back in case the new prop shaft breaks.

so, a couple of things has happened in these past 2 years
first off, I got bored with the small volvo turbo.
got a deal on a evo x turbo, and built a manifold for that
    [IMG]
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

And I also finished the 2014 season by breaking my volvo gearbox beyond repair, so I decided to put a stronger 6 speed diesel bmw gearbox in it.

got a little busy with this one last winter
    [IMG]
    turned out ok :)

This summer was good, didnt break anything big but had a problem with the steering, but it will be fixed before next season.
Next summer im going for a little bigger turbo Borg warner s251 and a new cam, 3.58 differential full cage and a couple of other mods, steering suspension exct.

ended the summer by getting a couple of 1/4 mile runs. best one was 12.35 @109mph

Awesome. Love it lifting a front wheel on the strip- Most people can't do that with twice the power

Well, I planned to do a little makeover on the rolla this winter because the body was really getting rusty and I really dont want to see it go any further with rust damage.

Also built a full roll cage in this process.

And by a complete accident put my volvo engine up for sale and sold it the same night.

The plan was to buy a 1jz and squeeze it in there but, went with a 2jz instead.
A borg Warner s360, 1000cc bosch injectors. And a 6 speed bmw gearbox conversion.

So an accidental complete rebuild of the car was suddenly in progress.

Here are a couple of pic that show the process

A ke with a 2j will be nuts.

I would have wound up the red block more.

I was on the buy it now button for a custom cam, pistons and con rods for the red block but then somehow this happened.

One of the reasons I went with this is now I can place the steering rack exactly where I want it and get a better handling car, I just hope it wont be to front heavy

but I did weigh the 2jz, but forgot to weigh the red block. But it is heavy, said to be around 170kg

I have a spare engine if I can get a set of scales to weigh it I will.

I like to be different so the redblock has massize appeal to me it's so simple and can make savage power for little input. Your build thread was one of a handful I could find where the engine wasn't in a volvo.

What power are you hoping to make with the 2j?
