Project 2015: Competition E36 turbo saloon

Decided it's time to get a build thread up for my latest project. I'm no stranger to 36's as many of you know. My current drifter is an E36 325i turbo.

    Build thread here http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-car-projects-builds/124257-e36-m50-turbo.html

However, I decided that it's time for a new project for 2015's drift season as I would like to compete in a series of some description next year.

First step was finding a base car. I decided that I wanted another saloon as I wanted something a bit different to my current coupe and I definitely wanted another M50. After weeks of trawling Ebay, I got this for the fitting steal of £325. It needed a bit of work but that suited me as the price reflected this.

It had a completely rotten boot floor, rusty rear panel and a rusty rear arch

But with a bit of this...

    ...All was good :)

Next up I wanted to add a bit of width. I had considered bolt on arches but after ordering a set, decided against them. Instead, I purchased a pair of these ;)

...and set to work cutting the arches off to fit to the rear.

Marked and cut the rear quarter

    And welded them in place.

And that's where we're currently at

I keep thinking about chopping the boot floor out of my 36 as it looks like it gives you so much more room underneath.

Done a good job on those arches and the boot floor there mate. Ive been meaning to cut my boot floor out for a while now, but its just one of those jobs I keep putting off. Was it literally just a case of cutting out the section and mocking up a template out of card board or similar and then cutting the shape out of metal and welding it in?

Hell yea man! We will be almost the same on power. :) Might I recommend looking into stock DME as a tuning option? Check out Jordan Horowitz @ RK-Tunes on facebook. Cool guy, and does great great work.

Vems is great mate, especially if you plan on sorting it all yourself.
