Was bored, looking through various online sites looking for a car to skid. Ie the usual bmws, mercs, etc. Found a mx5 local, after my last one I wanted another. it was pricey but low miles and lady owner. Took it home that night, found out there was a Crail Drift day that weekend (this was Monday night). So after a week of throwing money about to get the car to a spec I was happy to drift, I managed to source; Cat back exhaust HSD Mono Pro Coilovers very low miles Hard top Full safety 21 roll cage Front strut brace Fitted my old bride and harness and a temporary Gammy steering wheel. got some skid wheels and welded the diff. Before the first drift day, I gave a good service, oil, filters, spark plugs, coil packs, alternator belt, and diff oil was done when welded. Here's a few photos, you can see the hardtop, roll cage, etc Hit the track that weekend, was rough but happy none the less. After that, I just carried on buying skid wheels, and hitting skid days. But on the third, I managed to get far too confident and hit the tire wall 60mph+. Was getting loads of seat time as they were mega quiet. apart from radiator nothing major damage. Futted the radiator upside down, thus the major leak turned into steam instead, which meant the car could drive, and got home...10 hours later. Time to get it fixed, was an excuse for a new radiator anyway. Bought new wheels Test fit Gonna need some rollin^ Got my radiator. Decided it needed paint. Homebase/Halfords jobs a goodun. Finishing lacquer, just doing it here an there. It's no show car, just for track now These were taken early on, overall coverage turned out really well in the end A better photo of the cage minus the front top bar November 2014 - Car is Sorn'd, No MOT. Requires wheel bearing and cat... however after that last bash at crail, iv ended up just replacing loads of stuff for the next season. Recent jobs; New modified hubs for steering angle, Depower rack Washers on steering rack for extra lock S14 braided brake lines for extra length New lower ball joint and upper ball joint boots Super Now rod ends (Rx7) to reduce bump steer 30mm spacers (fronts and possibly rears) havnt test fitted them with the 8.25j yet finishing the paint and arches installed big gay wing ripped out old soft top, and more of interior, fitted the rear legs of the cage Also cut the rocker cover front belt guard off and sprayed yellow, few other bits and bobs ie brake calipers, strut brace legs done aswell but no pictures, got a new timing belt but not got round to fitting it. once i get this back together i will be looking for more power. December 2014 Slow but moving Steering angle is looking promising, not finished yet. Finished depowering the rack. Just need to bleed the brakes and hope the s14 line don't leak. After that it's time to fit cat then mot. Then can do some more bodywork Rocker cover fitted, few bits sprayed as mentioned. Thats about where I am now updates soon.

Hoping to get some drifting in soon, either the S14 before it sells or hurry up and get this road worthy again. (That's if these links even work)
Since I bumped it at crail I ain't had it out the lockup, after 3 mots, I finally got it through on Monday. I took it down to driftland that Friday Few good shots from someone I got through Facebook, Few minor things to do but I feel it's drifting really well now, just need to get the seat time now
thank fuck you got shot of that aids wing, looks 100x better without imo. I hear it was a chore to get down to DL yesterday with all that snow but looks like it was a decent day
Cheers man, Was given to me for free to throw on ha Didn't like it so it's off now the road was a nightmare, took 3-4 hours cars on their roofs, and car sliding everywhere wasn't ideal, but after Dundee it was really good and driftland was pure dry really enjoyed it, hoping to hit this weekend providing I'm onshore needing the seat time
Erbody be skidding MX5s up in here 1.6 or 1.8? I look forward to getting some seat time in mine and giving it the beans! hah
1.8 with Welded diff Enough speed compensates for lack of power. Keep considering charging it but then it defeats the purpose of it.
Not checked in on this thread in a while... car's looking great! I seen your car was posted on the Driftland FB page earlier. With the front guard on the rocker cover, did you just angle grind and paint it? Looks very cool! Cheers
Cheers man, appreciated, still long way to go I guess And yeah, well I used a hacksaw but since making the cut Iv seen one with the cut made further forward allowing some of it left to cover all rout the belt but still show the gears, looks alright and still provides protection to the belt
Changed my brakes to some better options, overall noticed a big difference from the everyday shit that was on before, feel more confident now both on the road and track. Got a GV style lip and fitted using cable ties for now until I bolt it on properly Driftland for second time, change of course. by end of the day was linking entire course bar the straight the odd run. Pretty happy , took a lot of trying to manage it. Decided I'm changing the paint again, used pressure washer to take as much as I could. Turns out the front half of the paint is on pretty well! So it's time for prep work Duck tail arrived, will fit that once prepped, going to smooth the arches a little more too, trying to get it looking a bit nicer now it's functions exactly how I want it to Got a list and plan made up so I know my steps forward with this Looking forward to see if this turns out as it is in my head. Got plenty of paint, sitting ready
man, think it's for the best. I just wanted to try the purple. I thought it looked well, but time for a change. To update, I'm currently offshore. And with an eBay account that's dangerous times. Iv bought more than I anticipated after looking at way too many lalalalalalala mx5s...but nevermind. Got side diffusers, roof wing, to go with that ducktail. Amongst other stuff Got a few things sitting for me when I'm home too. Will update once I begin Selling the XXRs soon so I can buy 8x the same 15" wheels so I can drift similar wheels on the rear. Really want to fit 9j all round but might have to settle for 8j "/ Wanting to try make this look as good as a mxgay can while still completely functioning as a drift car and driving it as hard as I can. Let's see how that works. Anyway here's what iv got. Bought plenty cause I want to make a good job of this. - - - Updated - - - ^hoping that yellow is more brighter and more glossier than its lid...
S T A N C E D - lalalalalala Good to see a change man I just bought Racelands for mine, no point spending big money when I've got the corolla to do!
