Have had this car on and off now since March 2010. ( Sold it twice ) Thinking of spending a few quid on the engine next year as I "think" I will keep it this time. Hasn't got a lot of mods on it as she stands. More or less came from Japan this way in 2009 apart from the radiator. Thinking of going for around 400bhp.. Any idea's as I don't want to spend a fortune and have already been quoted 4-5K to reach this.

    Mods now

    Performance radiator
    HKS triple plate clutch
    Blitz dump valve
    Apexi turbo timer
    Apexi Airfilter thingy
    Tein coilovers
    Blitz nur spec exhaust

    Few pics

Lovely car and love the colour.

400bhp on a 1jz should cost you hardly anything. All you need to do is turn up the boost on the standard turbos (but they are ceramic and won't last long) or buy some hybrid twins (standard turbos that have had the ceramic turbines swapped out for steel ones). The hybrid option would be very easy as would just bolt in. This should cost you all of around £500.

If you want to go further then there's no point going for 400bhp. Buy a top manifold, holset hx35, upgraded fuel pump and a few other bits and you'll see around 500bhp without breaking a sweat. This should cost around £1000-£1200.

Cheers @chr15_84t3, I advertised it a few months ago. Guy left a deposit and never came back..

Will look into that 500bhp option, thanks @jon07043278

Wouldn't want to say @Pete_the_Russian just incase they took me up wrong and thought I was asking for 1000bhp ;)

    Cheers lads!

Lovley car, have seen this on the japdreamz forum before. It's like a sister of my car.
Hybrid twins will take you to close to 400bhp.
If I did a 500bhp single turbo setup it would cost a fair bit more than £1200 but that's just because I don't really want to use a cheap manifold, wastegate etc.

Cheers lads.. If I do put in Hybrid twins would I need bigger injectors or intercooler? And I suppose I may take the cat off?

An OEM front mount will be dead on for 400bhp but if it only has the side mount it would be best to upgrade to a small front mount. Side mount will do 400 ok but might be inefficient.
Stock injectors will do 400 aswell which means you can use the stock ecu too.
A decat would be good to do when fitting the hybrids, will help release a few more ponies :)

    Standard injectors will be fine.

    What you'll need:

    Hybrid Twin Turbos
    Front mount kit off ebay
    ...and that's it

A better flowing exhaust (de-cat) and a better flowing air filter (hks panel or cone) will help.
