Daily JZA80 track & drift toy project

Been off here for a while now so I thought I would share my latest project.

Last year I sold my MX5 and brought myself an naturally asthmatic Auto Supra.

Now I know it's an auto and I have had the flack for it, but with the cash burning a hole in my hand and no manual models up for sale at the time, I went for it.

A manual conversion will be happening for sure...

Took a short road trip south, parted ways with some cash and brought the new car home

First off, I know what your thinking, that interior is fucking awful.... Yes, it really is but we will sort it later....

Plans for the car at this stage were to put my own mark on it, sort the floaty, soft suspension, service and do something with the interior.

So interior work, the white needs to go an as much as the red as possible

    So it began, stripping
    [IMG]
    Painting
    [IMG]
    Wrapping
    [IMG]
    Door cards
    [IMG]
    Wrapped
    [IMG]
    Back on
    [IMG]
Painted the dash panels and pulled the carpet and roof lining to dye them black
    [IMG]
    Half done
    [IMG]
    Roof lining before
    [IMG]
    After
    [IMG]

Got it all fitted back in and purchased a Nardi wheel. Looks a shit ton better now....!

Next on the to do list where the headlamps.
They hadn't gone yellow yet but are pretty haggard...
Busted out the wet/dry and metal polish, split the lens and buffed them up
    [IMG]
Decided to paint the insides too to darken them down a bit

    Service time!

Got a stack of papers but nothing recent so I don't think she's had much attention by the looks of the filter,
    [IMG]
Oil, filters, plugs, dizzy cap, Cambelt etc we're all done too
    [IMG]
Shortly after service we started having odd growling noises from the engine upon changing gear.
So fearing the worst we pulled the engine and box to investigate
    [IMG]
After splitting the box, we found the cause...
The Flex plate had busted in two...!
£200 later, we got a new one from Toyota, along with gearbox oil and seals.
Whilst the engines out, I thought it was time to change the leaky seals and have some fresh paint
    [IMG]
    Jet washed the bay
    [IMG]
    Ready to go back in
    [IMG]
    And almost there

Happy to say she started up ok!

So after getting all happy about driving again, I did a buy...
    Tein Street Flex Coilovers
    [IMG]
Whiteline heavy duty drop links for both axles and heavy duty adjustable swaybars
    [IMG]
Got fitting pretty much straight away and decided to waxoyl the arches too
    [IMG]
    Swaybars went on too
    [IMG]
Sits much nicer now, bye bye boat like handling....!

Following couple of weeks, I did another buy...
Treated the old gal to some shiny stainless steel
    [IMG]
    HKS Silent Hi Power.
Will be a load lighter than the stock system by the looks of it
    [IMG]
Had to go test it and take more pics

MOT time is looming and the front brakes are shot.
Setup on the front are Lexus LS400 Calipers which are a 4 pot alloy jobbie and a smidge lighter than the UK turbo models which I didn't realise... Win!
Any who, I pulled them off for paint
    [IMG]
Brought some braided lines from Hel and AP Racing Dot5.1 fluid
    [IMG]
Slapped them back on with new pads n discs

Found my aircon is bust and making noise so I ripped it all out, pretty heavy stuff and 1 less load on the engine,
    [IMG]
So to cheer me up and going off the wheels she came with, (18x8" Fox RS wheels.) I borrowed my other halves card and brought something a bit better
    [IMG]
Just need to pinch the Toyo's off the old rims
    [IMG]
Got them wrapped in rubber, brought some Rays Durlock nuts and on they went
    [IMG]
Rota GTR's up front and GTR D's on the back. Surprisingly light compared to the old Fox's...
And yes, the spoiler has gone as it was leaking water into my boot....
I kind like it without though.

Now I am saving for a manual conversion but will drive the wheels off the Auto box I'm sure.

Been looking to go down a different power route too, keeping it naturally asthmatic I have been looking at ITB's.... I know the money could be spent on having a turbo but it doesn't interest me, after all a 6 pot motor on chat with ITB's will sound mega and looks cool as fook...

Just need to do my homework and see what's involved... More to come soon!

But using a 1uz youve then got the added cost of a manual conversion
