I went to post in my old build thread and half the photos were missing so i did up this new thread for one of the american sites so im guna fire it up here and keep it altogether - MODS can go in and delete the old one tay fuck Enjoy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Howdy This is the life and times of my 180sx - hope you like I always wanted a 180sx - think i seen a pic of one drifting about 10 years ago when i was in my teens and that was it, popup lights and sideways turbo action was enough to have me hooked for life I spent an INSANE amount of time trying to find a good clean standard example - ended up finding this one back in the Spring of 2010 - was imported in 08 and was put straight into a garage and covered up Started out a basic bog standard zenki 94 reg 180sx - SR20DET - was clean as hell, straight and had zero rust. was everything i wanted. never had an accident or painted - just as is from the factory This is it when i went and bought it This is it when i first got it home and put on a bumper that came with it I didnt really know in my head where I wanted to go with it but it wasnt long until it was in castlefinn and Eglington getting some side ways action First two things i bought as soon as i got it Cusco 2way diff Cusco dash dodger bolt in cage After a few drift Days the old Bride was fucked - was an old ass uncomfortable seat anyway So i splashed out and got this The car was class and i loved the standard look…….. ……….But i loved the ignorant in your face look a wee bit more Went and bought these SSR PROFESSOR SP1's Fronts are 17 x 9jj +11 Rears are 18 x 10jj +11 They didnt fit at first but with a "awh theyll fit" attitude i rolled the arches out a rediculous amount and got them wedged in Car was getting some battle scars with a few of the drift days but the amount of fun i had in it it was completely worth it Back then it was just a car for drifting - it took everything i threw at it - i cant describe how much of a smile it put on my face and it never really gave any bother - keep servicing it and it was good to go - drive down to Eglington - drift all day - drive it home (sometimes on bald tires )
I bought the SSR's in January and in fairness they needed a hell of a refurb, the dishes were very very dead and the paint was falling off everywhere So this is what they looked like before hand when i got them I got them off the car and left them up to Marty Coyle (martycturbo) to refurb. I took as much time off work as i can to go up and lend a hand Marty got them split and sent the centres away to be sandblasted I went at the dishes with scotch bright and ended up taking a lot of the ground in dirt off them At this point i let Marty do his magic I sat back with a cigarette and bottle of boost and took in the scenery So after many many hours this is how the dishes ended up I was unreal happy with the dishes but i couldnt believe my eyes when he got them painted, the colour was perfect and was exactly what i was after. These are the finished article with the studs all shined up and the wheels screwed back together
I also got the cusco cage done the same as the wheels And if i can remember correctly i think this was us getting ready and going to the Port at easter in 2012 As you can see, a driftday later and the poor old bumper that stood me in good steed was completely wanked Ran with an origin Type 2 front bumper for a while before it was wrecked also doing some dori dori SO This must be the start of 2013 id say It was about this time that i had my fun in it - i was looking online to find another clean one for the road but the prices got rediculous I spent a wee while deciding do i keep this one as a drift car or do i build it back up for the road From here on youll see which road i went with it Got myself a garage organised at my grans gaff and i went to town stripping her down By no means am i a mechanic but i just wanted to do as much as i could as i couldnt let another man do it for me - I wanted this to be something that i did myself so i knew every nut and bolt on it Body was still nice and clean underneath and hadnt been attacked by the dreaded rust yet Gutted the interior outa her Dash In Dash Out
I Started with the long slow process of sourcing and buying the parts that i really wanted for it I didnt want to cut corners so i spent lots of time sourcing the right stuff JDM TRD Edition Supra Recaros Raybrig Headlights Brand new HSD MONOPRO coilovers Genuine Kouki front bumper Replica Kouki Front Splitter Kouki Indicator Pods New Alloy Rad and New Front Mount (BLING BLING BITCH)
Origin +30mm rear Quarters and +25mm front wings sent from Origin in Japan Removed the rear tints aswell as it made the car look a LOT cleaner She looked like this and then …………… - - - Updated - - - ……………… This Happened
Was time to start reassembling AFTER ALLLLLLL THAT This is how she ended up looking First day back at the house and i got straight to work on getting a few more bits and pieces done Had the Cage sprayed white & FenSport Rear Brace Got a Nardi Steering wheel And a Genuine "Kazama Autos" gearknob (probably the thing i love most on the car lol - silly i know) A picture of it all together
So this takes us up to November 2013 Winter was settin in and the car was out of tax so it was time to get it back into the garage With the car off the road it freed up some cash to buy a few more goodies Alpine Double Din SP1s were everywhere - not t say i wont buy another pair in the future but for the time being i fancied a change Rays Volk TE37 18 x 9.5 +12 all round Rare optional extra digital clocks with heads up display unit DMAX bonet
Got a nice Defi Boost Guage, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, Water Temp and Control Box So went at gettin the Headunit / Defi / Digi Dash fitted Managed to find a set of these also - Ultra Ultra Ultra Rare rear window louvres, so rare they werent even in the optional extra brochures when the car was released in Japan, only special Nissan Dealers could get them These arrived after 8 weeks at sea from Japan and i got some Kumho Ecstas wrapped round them straight away No point in getting RAYS TE37s if im not guna get some RAYS nuts to match Also picked up some Aerocatches for the DMAX as i wouldnt trust a fibreglass bonet
Also went and bought all this Jazz S15 front hubs S14 LCA's for extra camber R33 Skyline front discs/calipers R33 Skyline Rear hub/disc/calipers R33 handbrake cables Braided lines 20mm spacers Also got Kouki rear spats The 14 bottom arms allow for a SHIT LOAD more camber The fronts all done n dusted The rears all done n dusted
Fitted HEL braided lines front n back (had to with the back for the skyline hubs) Spent a lot of time then footerin about fixin wee odd jobs that were annoyin me and that had to be fixed - changed fluids and just gave her a good look over - have her sittin as well as i can for now, im lookin for a set of rear camber arms as i cant put her down any lower at the back until i can camber them in a bit On full lock the tires catchin the inner lip, should be aight tho, not doin it too badly and the car looks bad ass so i aint changin it Fitted the adjustable actuator and the blitz SBC and have the car runnin in around a bar boost and its pullin like a train - big difference to standard .5 bar with a wanked actuator - a good service and change of filters helped a lot also This is before it was fitted, she was a bit gutless in fairness but a lot better now - second gear drifting on the dry with the big 18x9.5s on the back is no bother RAYS came up as new with a good clean In getting the look over beside her big bro
Japanese Christmas Thanks to juice for hookin me up with some black/white checkered mats for the front and back they are a serious serious quality - would reccommend them to anyone He also sent me a genuine KIDS HEART sticker and a few planet drift stickers and a Gaku Dori mag happy bunny I also managed to find a full boot interior - wanted one as the overall goal is to have an old 94 road car with as many comforts as modern cars A lot of work cleaning it up and fitting it all properly but boom its all in iv seen very few 180s that still had the full boot interiors So Now we are right up to date - Sunday May 4th 2014 The first round of IDC was on at Mondello last weekend so we took the cars down to it for a wee run
So on friday night i took the Notion to fit the HUD it was time to do this - TO A PERFECT UNCRACKED, UNMARKED DASH - i was putting it off as long as i could but it had to be done at some stage or another Here goes …….. So yeah thats it in and bolted down tight and everything working as it should, it was an absolute cunt of a job in all fairness, there is no real way of mapping it out, i practiced on an old fucked dash i had layin about but still, theres no real proper template you can make, pretty much start in the middle and work your way out - but yeah it works wooop wooop picked up some more RARE OPTIONAL EXTRA GOODNESS optional extra sunroof delete for a 180sx Came with Original Nissan bag Very nice bit of kit - managed to get 2 of these so i have one for sale aswell
Thought id throw up some pics of the stuff we have at the minute. We called ourselves Team Zero7Four- its the code for the area we live in. i know thats a bit "NWA" but hey, we were drunk when we decided it and when we sobered up we were too lazy to think of a new name so it stuck. Heres some of the cars - Hope you like if you like what were doing you can join us on facebook and follow all the builds of each of the cars https://www.facebook.com/Zero7Four were a sound oul bunch of bastards in fairness A few more photos of my own
So this takes me right up until the present - November 2014 New Diffuser arrived - having Paul at Pro-Fit Kits now fully rework the diffuser to make it look as close to an OE piece as possible - will cut a part of the rear bumper so it sits in further under the car, diffuser will be fully cut apart also and made smaller so it doesnt sit as low. going to have a few canards moulded also to sit at either end. Paul is also making up side steps that will attach in under the side skirts, he is also making me up a front undertry that will sit out from the front splitter with origin canards at either side. few pics of the rear diffuser just sitting up against the car to show a rough idea what it will be like Once Paul has got through with all his work the car will be going in for another full paint job to freshen her up, going the same colour again - fibreglass panels moved about a bit over the course of the year so theres a few spiderswebs here and there that need sorting out wheels will be going Volk Bronze so i bought new genuine Rays Volk stickers for them Heres a few more pics that turned up over the last few months that i really liked The Zero7Four cars lining up to get into Mondello Black Friday impulse buy Genuine Origin Carbon doorcards And got a solid steering bush sent up from Cork off ma main man Daren Moynihan
Been aaages since I was on this but now we're coming back into the summer it was time to do a bit of work on the car again Left it up to Paul at ProFit kits to make custom canards and splitters for the front and sides to tie in with the diffuser on the rear, needless to say his work is second to none Teaser pic to show what we're doing So just getting things finished up down at Pro-Fit kits As ever Paul took what was in my head and just made it 10 times better i had a few ideas that i brought to him and we talked through how to do a few things firstly was obviously the front splitter that would bolt on under the standard kouki splitter - he made this all as one piece and it works lovely with the bumper and splitter To follow on from this i also wanted to have sideskirt extensions made up to sit under the chuki sideskirts that would run on from the front splitter Another idea i had was to insert a piece in the vented wings that would have a badge counter sunk into them - something to give it a bit of a modern touch - you can see them in the pics above and below is a pic of some genuine NISMO badges set in For the rear i got rid of the kouki spats and i bought a full 1 piece bumper add-on that will have the diffuser built into it This stuff has just been taken all back off and has been sent to be finished and painted in a textured plastic paint so that it looks as OEM as possible The rest of the car has been left down to have the body painted Midnight Purple again and the splitter kit will be fitted once its all done All C+C welcome as id like to see what everyone thinks as not many 180s have custom splitters made
Absolutely gorgeous car mate. Real credit to you can tell you have put alot of thought into it as it has been classy at all stages of its evolution. Im a fellow 180SX owner, although i have a stock 1997 type x in silver. putting the young lad to work early May i ask where you are getting all your awesome JDM factory goodies from? id love a set of the louvres in the rear glass and am always on the hunt for oem kouki parts. Cheers mate Doug
Thats a lovely car mate, id love another 180 that is just standard from the factory but i cant afford 2 of them To be honest i got most of my parts through years of just scouring for sale adds on internet sites, always trying to twist the arm of fellas that have parts on their cars to sell seperately, stuff like that. also the yahoo auctions are very good and sometimes you can find stuff on ebay. but mainly its just stay glued to the for sale sections on forums like this i could get you an excellent quality kouki front lip with all the tabs on it. my mate makes them and he used mine as the mould. they fit as good as any oe part and really are the best quality iv ever seen from a Rep part. what other bits and pieces are you looking for?? i know of a few bits hidden away
Thanks mate I'm after all sorts, anything that is factory kouki. Currently after some rain deflectors, some knee pads, a cup holder din thing, a front lip of course. really holding out for an OEM one although I know I stand more chance of winning the lotto. I'm also after some nice 17 inch rims to replace my bling weds kranze 18s!
factory kouki is hard to come by but yeah you might be able to find something. wind deflectors - try the nismo shop, they cost me 140 euro delivered from america for genuine ones that were brand new. knee pads are a waste of money imo, they just look shit lol. cup holders would be nice, if i could find them i would buy them. prob find them in japan handy enough??? for rims i would get onto jesse streeter and check out the yahoo auctions in japan, better selection of wheels for half the price than most over here
