Wasn't going to make a thread on this but as my 14 is away and getting a cage fitted I thought I may as well,

All started last November when a deal was had with Shaan @ drift street imports, great guy and great company to deal with. would love to buy from then again maybe when I have more money :D

    Body:

Right cars not back from super style yet but i thought i'd do a little update

    My towing rig :wack:

Finally after 6 weeks of waiting my seats turned up from Corbeau but they were well worth the wait and excellent value for money :)

and my roof spoiler turned up so I decided to whack some paint on it, not a bad finish considering it was done with rattle cans

Quick release extension boss turned up will make it easier to get in and out with the new door bars :)

Thats where we are now, I'm dropping the seats off on monday so will get a few picture then and update on progress, can't wait to get it back now

Right time for a bit of an update, the car is still with Mo @ Superstyle getting its cage but I have still kept myself busy,

I bought this to go down the route of a GT2871R with a external gate, but things have changed......

then this fucking massive parcel turned up for me at work :)

Then I bought it home Pikey spec, but its ok because I put a Hi-vis jacket on it which makes everything legal.

Then stood it up in position to check it all fits and great news, it does. just finishing off installing it now should be done by fridayish.

I don't have the highest roof in my garage by the s14 isn't exactly tall so I will be able to lift it up about 1m which will be helpful. failing that i'll cut the roof beams :wack:

Now here is where the plans change a bit, I was innocently on DW waiting for my girlfriend to get ready for a brilliant day shopping at Bluewater. I came across a for sale thread of a 1UZFE for sale in Gravesend and he was offering it silly cheap. As I live in Maidstone, Gravesnd is on the way to Bluewater so one thing led to another and........

this was not really my plan for the car but fuck it, ive always liked the 1UZ and it was cheap. it wasn't the cheanest engine but it was cheap so I am going to clean it up a bit. I have had a chat with Nev (top bloke) from F1Moto by Brands Hatch and he has agreed to do the swap which should happen next month :D

And yesterday I got a photo from Mo who is finishing up my seat rails and should be starting the cage soon.

And tomorrow is my 21st birthday so i'm off work Thursday and Friday so yeah things are pretty sick at the minute :)

Seat rails are done and seats are in, I went and saw the car on Friday and it is getting there. The welds are really nice.

bit of cage work this is the main hoop going in.

So Thursday was my 21st birthday so on Saturday I went to Mercedes World and it was awesome.

Obviously had to have a bit of a skid (they wouldn't turn the water off, so no smoke :( fells weird skidding a £50-60k car.

And finished off my ramp, just need to rig up the electrics and we are ready to go.

Also had a change of plan engine wise with the car and have decided to stick with the SR, if its not broke don't fix it. so im going to be buying a GT2871R with a 0.64 exhaust housing (if anyone is selling one let me know) new injectors, swirl pot and bosch 044. Then i'll take it to get mapped aiming for about 350-370bhp.

Cage should be done at the end of the month I can't wait to get it back :)

Boredom set in and I bought new Rocket Bunny front bumper and wings which should arrive on Tues/Wed so i'll paint them whilst doing the interior :)

More cage updates, rear half of the cage coming along nicely, hopefully picking it up on Friday

Tunnel brace, not drivers door bar is not done yet,

Looking at the pics Mo sent me I asked if he could add a bar in between the bottom of the main hoop and the rear turret, here is what we have just tacking in at the moment :D

Also I was wondering if anyone had any experience with competing in Time Attack, I cam across it and im really interested in maybe competing at a couple of events next year. Id really like to know:

if you can only do a couple of events or do you have to sign up for the year?
    costs involved with entering?
I would be looking to go in the Clubman or Club Challenge class, probably Clubman so I can get the hang of it. any info or advice would be greatly appreciated :D

So on Monday I picked the car up from Mo @ superstyle and I am soooo impressed with the quality of his work, everything is done exactly how I wanted :D

Enroute photo (taken on closed private road )

Loaded up ready to go home !!!

    Its all about the details,

Quick jacking point, floor will be plated over.

So now I have to cleanup the sound deadening residue and paint the interior, cut and fit the dash, fit the seats and harnesses and paint and fit the bumper, roof spoiler and wings. so I have a bit to keep me busy for now which is handy cos im all out of $£$£$£.

got home from work last night and thought I would take off the wings and front bumper and have a little test fit of the new bits :D

the fitment is amazing, so much better than my old wings

Then threw on the front bumper which again fitted pretty well, just requires a bit of trimming to clear the grill supports.

    So tonights plan is:
    trim the front bumper
    fit lights
maybe fit roof spoiler if I get time

Time attack? Hmm most motorsports you'll be needing an in-date harness, plumbed in fire extinguisher and proper FIA spec battery cutoff switch (that does the engine as well). Car will have to pass scrutineering. That's what I'm having to do with my R32 as I'm looking to do some BARC races next year. Usually you pay for club membership, and then pay per race, but depends. Any form of motorsport ain't gonna be cheap. Maybe try a few track days to shakedown the car first and get the hang of things. You'll also be needing a racing license, National B most likely, you can do day courses for them.

Thank you for the info, I was planning on doing a fair few track days before entering anything :D just sort of wondering what specs I needed to build the car to.

Little update on the car as I have had a really busy weekend as Goodwood Revival on Saturday and my Nephews Christening yesterday.

And some photos from Goodwood

    Pure Porn

Ridiculous choice of track car :D

These were just in the car park not even in the show.

Haven't updated in a while, not too much going on but here are a few pictures :)

2 rolls or tape and 3 news papers later….

Flat floor cut and in and sealed.

    Undersealed the jacking point.

The boot release mechanism broke so i fixed it the easy way, was a pain to get into the boot had to unbolt it from the inside which is tricky with a cage.

    Roof spoiler fitted.

Painted the interior bit tricky but well worth it.

Interior back in, really happy with how it looks

    Interior looks good

Just spray cans for the interior paint as well or did you use a compressor and gun?

And is the hoist/ramp single phase or 3 phase power?
