Mech can do all sorts of shit

I bashed the lip down so my wheels have a bit more clearance now, but tbh it needs extensive remodelling with a substantially bigger hammer

For now I think I'll have to remove the spacers so I can drive it safely and clear the oil out of it.

ok this is how it looks with the rears fitted with 205/55/16s, and the front spacers removed:

I think I might fit some smaller front spacers, maybe 15mm instead of 25mm. It'll still need some bashing though, still touches at full lock as it is!

Hmm maybe all the talk of dogging has put people off looking at this thread

SRB have a group-buy on Cusco roll cages on the SXOC at the moment, so I'm going to get in on that to save the bother of making one myself and the expense of getting a H-Dev one. That'll be here in January/February

15% deposit now, you wont need to pay the balance until February

Is that because they dont have door bars, or they're made of the wrong material? Whichever, any roll cage is better than no roll cage, and chances are I'll not be needing one anyway (to compete in Eurodrift novice class). Also, if it turns out that I need one made of a higher spec material I can use the Cusco one as a template

edit - and I'll be adding the rear diagonal and door bars myself

Haha, just read the thread and had EXACTLY the same plan.

I dont want pussy-spec doorbars anyhow, i want badass ones that makes it nigh on inpossible to get in and out the car, like on my cossie

I'd like X-bars ideally, but they're a pain to make. Probably end up with one at the feet and one higher up. And one across the rear strut tops as well as a rear diagonal - saves me buying a strut brace

I wanted X's too, they that hard? Oh well, just loads of other random ones then

My Cossie one didnt have an X, just rear diagonal and a single but quite high (ie about halfway up the door ) straight door bar.

Both the Safety21 and the Cusco ones are made from CDS (cold drawn seamless) tubing, so they'll comply with regs - just need door bars to comply with the 2006 D1 regs. I think that's right anyway

Did a bit of today, and now the wheels dont rub on full lock like they used to

I need 10mm spacers at least, to cover the end of the wheelstuds as at the moment without spacers they're going rusty. I think 10mm spacers should be alright, but I think Im just going to have to admit I made a mistake buying 225/50 tyres when I should have bought something like a 45 or even a 40 profile! When budget allows I might have them swapped, but it's a bit gutting knowing you spent £150 on the wrong size tyres

I was gonna spray the bonnet matt black today too, but I was working on it at a friend's house and their neighbour is THE BIGGEST GAYLORD in the whole entire world, and threatened to call the police etc if I sprayed the car in case I got overspray on his shitheap N reg Mazda estate

I managed to fix my boost gauge aswell. It hadnt been working properly ever since the turbo blew, and now I know why - the pipe was FULL of oil, lol, so I cleared it out and now it's working fine again

Er, right, so, my engine has blown up

Managed all of 25 miles since fitting the new T25 Although I think the turbo is fine so I'm not blaming that at all. I think it must have been trying to drive it home from Curborough with a broken turbo that killed it

Anyway, all stop on this until I find a new engine. Hopefully will be back on the road soon - it'll only be one evening to remove the old engine and slot in a new one if I go for a straight swap. It's just the timing that's UNBELIEVABLE - I sold the Mercedes on Thursday, taxed the SX on Friday, blew it up on Saturday

Lol!! Unlucky dude.
Don't do a straight swap though, put something stupid in that'll take ages to do and ultimately be pointless but incredibly cool nonetheless.
Like a Kent or an A series.
