Hi guys Picked up my S15 Sunday after 10 years of wanting one as a replacement for my S13 Really excited to be back in an S body after 2 years Spec is quite good with a lot of surprise parts I had no idea of 2002 Spec R Re sprayed in blue/purple Innovite TE37 replica wheels Half stripped interior Nismo gear knob Engine: Uprated fuel pump Spitfire Coil Packs Power Enterprise Air filter HKS FMIC Blitz Nur Spec exhaust from turbo elbow back including de-cat Tomei Reytec ECU - need to find somewhere to get it mapped before fitting Chassis: S14 gearbox conversion Unknown make (at the moment) 2 way diff - really right and aggressive Cusco front tension rods Mega locky front knuckles Various make adjustable arms on the back (unsure of which ones at the moment) Tein coilovers Only have a minor list of jobs to do, won't take long Straight off the boat After MOT and registering
So after getting new tyres and balancing up the 17inch Buddy Club Alloys I also got with the car and some minor suspension adjustments she looked like this And then last night she looked like this on the near side rear corner After being recovered back home on a flat bed I discovered the bottom bolt holding the near side rear coilover to the knuckle was missing! This was quickly rectified this morning with my RX7 FC kindly donating a bolt to the cause Followed by a couple more changes A Cusco strut brace from my old S13 and an Apexi Filter to replace the slightly clogged Power Enterprise one
So today this happened, Drives like a completely different car!! Idle is a bit crap now but other than that it's awesome Also had a play with the wheel alignment, zero toe and 1 degree camber at the rear and 4.5 degrees camber, 0.6 toe out and 8 castor on the front. A lot easier to drive now as the front toe and castor were set really high and the rear was just all over the place!
Made it feel a bit more like 'my' car this weekend, welded in a harness bar and fitted my slightly tired Cobra bucket Also found out that on a full lock the wheels are hitting the front tension rods, so obviously need some kinked ones Does anyone know if the DW arms would give enough clearance on my S15 with modded knuckles and track rods and 10J wheels?
Productive lunch hour today These arrived in less than 24 hours, can't thank the guys at Driftworks enough!!! Solving this problem, from this non existent clearance: To this: Also sorted a leaky turbo return pipe and my missing rear coilover retaining bolt thanks to the helpful people of Cambridge Nissan parts department And a final thank you to Mitto for his thread on wheel alignment settings
Thanks guys, really want to find out some history on this as it wasn't registered in Japan until last year, and with the mileage someone has been enjoying it for 12 years on track haha
I just plugged it in to see how it ran, it's a little rich and the idle is a bit crap but other than that it feels pretty spot on. I suspect it had a different turbo on in Japan because mine doesn't look like it's had much use and it's still on standard mani and elbow. That and some of the nits bolts and fittings needed some tightening haha
Brief update after the weekend, after a massive wait the chap, who imported/got it MOT'd/sold it to me, has finally sorted my ballast, and I've sorted the remaining problems myself as sick of waiting for him to sort the other bits promised to me So she now has a screen wash system, working number plate light and horn and (almost) a working rear fog haha Was planning to paint the wheels but got caught up sorting some VVT related niggles and painting wheels for the wife's S14a we collected Friday from a brilliant guy in Bristol
Very nice dude, the colour code looks to be tv3, its a standard s15 colour, purple/blue. its the same colour Ive just sprayed my r34 in too
Thanks mate, that's really helpful as I keep eyeing up rear wings and wondered how I'd match the colour haha Loving your skyline looks awesome!!!
So in an effort to try and improve the slightly crap idle and peculiar hesitation/misfire on cruising she got treated New plugs have made it a bit better but still not perfect Suspecting a fuel pump as there isn't any boost/vacuum leaks and timing and injectors check out ok Also managed to adjust the front coilovers to match the rear Looks much better nice and level I think
More shiny bits!!! Fitted a 340lph fuel pump but forgot to take any pics, runs a bit better now though which is nice Then fixed the crappy idle after doing some reading on the Tomei Reytec ECU Also got bored at the weekend and trying to be all clever have moved my Z32 to the intercooler piping but have now made it run awful, almost like hitting fuel cut at 3/4K But on the bright side did get my Tomei rocker arm stoppers in
Time for an update, Fixed my hesitation/misfire was a mix of injector issues and Tomei ECU decided it no longer liked running with the Z32 coupled with a minor boost leak on cold pipe for intercooler So a set of 555's and a Tomei interface kit later, courtesy of Steve at RB Motorsports and new intercooler pipes she's running perfectly!!!!
