Howdy, It's been literally ages since i've posted anything that i've built in here. But i've started documenting some stuff on my blog again and thought i'd share. Recently bought a JZA80 Mk4 Supra which we've been slowly putting right. It's a well known car on here so hopefully you'll enjoy seeing it become not sh*t. Good read. Keen to see how it turns out. I actually don't mind the Ridox front bar and TRD wing look.
Just read through every post on the blog, really enjoyable dude keep it up. The RB engine oil starvation information was really helpful, I've got an R34 on a boat on its way over right now and I planned to try and prevent any oil related issues first with some choice mods, really helpful!
Regarding "It was missing one of the rear diff mount bushes" NA Supras only run a single rear diff mount bush. The provision is there for two, but only one is fitted.
same as altezzas. Also you sure thats an aftermarket manifold? as 2jzs normally come with a tubular manifold as standard, a lot of people think they are aftermarket but it may well be the stock item
In the right context, just not in anything that's intended to be driven on the road. If it's a track car that's got no purpose other than to be raced - then sure. However even then - it's a shitty place to be unless you absolutely have to for regulation purposes.
What about to be competitive? My Supra is out there playing with LS1 equipped KE70s and supercharged LS3 S13's. Given that we're limited to a 235 wide tyre down here, my car being 400kg heavier than the average stripped Silvia leaves me at a major disadvantage. Increase in reliability would be a plus as well. Absolutely agree if it's still doing street duties, but if you can't deal with a little noise and heat in your race car, then we have very different priorities. I ran my old stripped Supra on several 45+ degree days, AND I'm in Australia where the heat will get you if the wildlife doesn't. This is why I love the Internet, it's great to see how opinions differ.
Sure, But you're car being 400kg heavier is not the reason for you not being able to follow LS1 equipped KE70's. It's you and your driving. (And me and my driving!) The weight of the interior of the car is (in my opinion) not such a huge deal. You ditch the majority of it by changing the seats. For a fully fledged pure completion car, sure. From a safety and accessibility perspective. Bin in. Again, this is just my opinion. Doesnt mean it's gospel.
Enjoyed reading this. I'm currently working my way through all of the old posts on the blog, they are great too.
Stripped interiors drive me up the fucking wall. Fair enough on a fully built comp car (and even then I wouldn't unless regulations required it) but pointless on street car. Your just making it colder and damper and a horrendous place to be. In your young heads your probably thinking "yeah but bitches will want the d because I look like a proper drifter" Wrong. Chicks would rather be smashed in cars with heated leather, not a car with lots of sharp bits sticking out where seats used to be. And that's the whole point of drifting right?
