While on the lookout for something cheap and cheerful for practice days I came across an e30 for sale with e36 running gear. Even though it was cheap, it was a non runner but I took a chance, picked it up and dropped her down to my trusty mechanic Paul @ PJS Autoengineering who soon had it running, it sounded beastly with the straight through exhaust into scorpion backbox.

Engine sounded awesome and as it had an LSD already fitted and I had a few spares with plenty of rubber I planned a day out for a bit of skidding to see how it felt

Popped in a bucket seat and a hydro, rolled arches and away we went

Drivers side was dodgy, passo side a bit better

As I'd taken the sunroof out and it decided to rain the day we went out I had to improvise with a temporary cardboard sunroof..

    Great days craic..
Car went great, loadsa power, but kept spinning on full lock (turns out driver's side engine mount was broken)
also the handling was a bit dodgy so lots of things on the to do list for next time out..

Although the current spec was pretty good, and it was great fun driving something oldskool again, after my test-day out I realised it'd take a fair bit of money to leave it properly skiddable.. namely suspension set up etc..

So I thought I'd sell it on as it was still roadworthy, tax and mot had just ran out and I knew if I starting cutting it up it'd never be on the road again..

After some interest but no cash I thought I'd go ahead with the potential moneypit..

yeah - not gonna drift these babies though, i picked up a set of cheap replicas - 8J, with crappy offset but I've got a mate to cut them and weld in 2 inches to bring them up to a 10J with OK offset for the rear - waiting on them to be welded so needa cut rear arches to allow for clearance, then put some jun arches or similar on
i'm after some low offset similar style wheels for front though

yeah, it was a fair enough buy at the time.. but now i've started to sort it for skiddin its gonna cost me some monies..
My ''to do list'' gets longer every day lol

Even though engine should be bullet proof, ive just got bolts n bearings for 'peace of mind'
Wanna alpha n it for as much power as possible
Then I'll likely have to put in uprated clutch and lightened flywheel

Extra power will likely rip rear boot floor so I've got a double earred rear diff plate to swap onto diff and add extra mounting point, tie into cage

As above cut out rear arches for clearance, need clearance at front with extra lock

Polybush rear, put in tabs for castor/camber..

    Cage it..

Hopefully it should then be reliable and handle better..

Yea man, direct from IE - weren't too dear to buy but after customs stuck their arm in ended up dear enuf lol..

Only got 1 pair yea - serrated edges look the biz, though maybe if were a bit deeper I imagine they'd hold better but at least I'll have a bit of adjustability and they should hold ok if set up rite..
