Ally, teh aluminium? I think carbon fibre is much easier to cut, I could use a jigsaw, tho it's probably posssible to cut metal sheet with it, but I don't have the right saw for the job and its pretty difficult to cut round holes with scissors

Any ideas where to get some? =)

Just noticed, the red lada has the same tach as I have, I got it from a scrapyard

carbon costs lots of money an is difficult to work and wrecks your tools.just get some thick plastic then you could cut holes out with a sharp knife.a good way to make guage holes if you do not have a hole saw is to drill lots of small holes around the inside then use chissel to knock out the remainder of the metal then smoth it up with a file.

Here's what I did:

I didn't use a chisel tho, preferred that little sheet metal cutting tool

Finished the work, finally

It was funny when dad sat into it, got cozy and said: "Hey, this is like the real thing!"

Plans:

Get rid of that ceiling "thingy"
Weld some sheets between the ceiling and collcage
add reinforcements to the rollcage
make a better footrest for the driver
make a footrest for the passanger/co-driver
bleed the hydraulic handbrake
paint the pedal "legs" black
lose mechanisms from the doors
use lexan instead of glass for door windows
a tray for the battery in the rear of the car
[...]

Paint the whole interior white, including door posts and ceiling this time =I

since this a drifting forum, I bet many of you have had troubles with their transmissions, heres my problem:

Last year when I was driving it hard, I misshifted and ever since the 3rd gear doesn't engage very well and when the car is going sideways, it throws the gear out, what could be the problem because we didn't find anything broken

Check the engine mounts, if the engine is moving too much it'll do the gear changing for you! maybe an engine steady brace is what you need to make up?

Anyway cool car, I'm loving it to bits. I trust your driving skills match your engineering talent

I'll have a look, but preferably borrow the gearbox from another lada we have, we should've fixed it but all we do is take parts for my car
