Alot of suspension kits dont cater for a shorter stroke at all! The uprated shocks they make are the exact same length as the OEM items, and so the only way to lower the car and still have the spring stay captive when its not under compression is to put all those useless coils on them. Rally boys dig the full length for their needs and they can then keep the car fully jacked up and use all of the shock if they put their own springs on there.. But for drift and circuit...

They are actually made like that! Its so that you get the lowered ride height, but still have a long enough spring, so it doesnt pop out of its seat when going over yumps in the road etc!

Or were you being sarcastic

Nice work Cookie, glad to see a certain AE86 is coming apart for a good cause

Whats the floor like under the fuel tank mate? Is that small funny dent in the spare wheel well, linked to the hole in the fuel tank you reakon?

Oh and what does the rusty bit look like with the tank out, any worse? haha

What are you doing about the hydraulic clutch then? Cutting the bulk head and fitting the 86 master cylinder, and playing around with the pedal box a little?
its all coming apart for a good cause!

As for the rear area it looked ok from the underside! but can tell its had a bit of work but I cant get over just how tidy the rest of the floor is on the car! Its very good, just cant get round why it rusted in that one spot I showed you! Weird hhu!??

The mark sort of is in the same place as the hole so....

I imagine the ones on there will be sweet for the moment dude, considering how stiff the Levin was!

Id drive it like it is, then work out what you might need to change etc

I know you want it lower, but its only a 10 minute job to change springs when you want to go lower, i just wouldnt chop the ones you got

Well, didnt do much this weekend.

My girlfriend was home from Uni in the week, and went mouantain biking all Sunday so....

But I did scotch all the engine bay ready for a lick of primer and test fitted the new headlights aswell to make sure I dont need to make any alterations to the front panel.

Need to get a spot weld removing drill bit to as I am having no battery in the engine bay and a few brackets are not needed any more (like the one for the carb cable etc) so will dill them out to tidy the bay nicer!

Fit of the lights was not to bad but they could be better. Defo not a straight bolt on though if you wanted them perfect. Do have a different Jap spec front panel with the cut out for the lights but it was supposed to be for a KE70 but i suspect its from a wider TE71.

few pics....

not perfect fit

looking even better.

didnt realise the headlights weren't a direct fit?

I think you need to keep it the copper brown colour for authenticity!

like it lots and cant wait to see the finished result

Give it 6 weeks and you will!

I am keaping the copper brown, can be arsed rubbing it down and stuff for spray when I have other things that need doing!

Also, I want this out of the way so I can start another project in my shed but that will be more of a resto than a modified jobbie!!

yea the #E7# series wings are all different. because you can clearly see the lenses are a different style. i have this book that has this other crazy looking front end.

but it breaks down, my KE front is a levin. the 4 round is trueno. well for the coupes anyway. 4dr is just a corolla.

but nice to see it coming along. i hope you figure a way to fill the gap. if you really care that is.

I was going to say earlier on that you'd need the guards aswell for the lights, but you've obviously figured that out hahah!
