Heavy

Unlucky with the previous 200 incarnations, looks like this should be a bit more solid though

And welcome to Driftworks

when you say 2 ltr, is it an SR20, or a beefed CA18?

Prepping bonnet (aka making it lighter) I cut around the edge of the bonnet frame with my trusty mate the grinder then used a long bread knife to cut off the rubber bonding.

Discarded bit

top skin left of the bonnet

Fitting flush bonnet pins. I used the points where the support rubbers are removed them then drilled up through the bonnet.

drilled up through marked outline for catch

cut out with angle grinder and jig saw

fit drill holes for bolts and hey presto repete other side and done.

I will be keeping an eye on this one
Can I ask why you chose to build a 2ltr ca instead of going SR? Dont get me wrong I have a ca too and will be keeping it.

CA Is so much better NOT HAVING THE ARGUEMENT YET AGAIN but it is
The SR 2ltr isnt as good as the CA 2ltr so id end up stroking a SR to 2.2 any how, and insurance reasons they wont know its a 2ltr crank

Been a long weekend but got a fair bit done:
Got the doors cut down, boot finished, preped the interior for seam welding, booked the car in for its full 8 point cage on the 17th of feb cutting it close.

so hears the pics and how i did it all.

first i stripped the doors down from spare car.

cut around edge just leaving for the door card poppers to clip in.

cut out crash bar this is what was removed.

I have to say dont do this on a road car unless its fully caged because it takes out all your side impact.

Finished off the boot masked it off.

it started to rain so i made a cover for myself and sprayed it.

finished spray

drilled hole for bolts siliconed around edge and bolted in.

Drilled a pilot hole down though the latch, drilled out to the right size, bolt in pin, had to bend into position which took a while then tightend up when all sorted out.

Cut out old latch bracket.

On to the interior:

tools used. and the all important hifi.

Stripped out interior.

Drilled out the spots on any un needed brackets, then chisled off.

Brushed on the nitro morse paint stripper

left to blister as per intructions. brush in more this only took 5 min such an easy way to it.

While it had to soak in for 20 min i got the white spirit out and removed the rest or the tar soaked it with a sponge, srcapped it off then scrubbed it off with the sponge. wipped over with paper towel.

Got the wire brusah on the drill cost £3 from b&q bargin cleaned off pealing paint then swept up and wiped clean with white spirit.

didnt take long and i had the whole car done just my battery ran out so ill get some more pics tomorro
