The 12 tooth crank trigger is a write-off from our point of view, with the S15 we had the joy of self-advancing timing which we can only put down to the trigger being subject to interference (or some strange inductance or capacitance in the system effecting a time/phase shift as RPM and therefore frequency and voltage increase). Why this didnt effect James' car and the other 1JZs I don't know, but thankfully a simple answer is available, the 36-1 trigger from these people: Trigger-Wheels

We think that part of the problem with the standard sensor is that they're such high impedence that they effectively make the entire crank sensor an aerial. Personally I'd go for the V8 coil pack kit as it has plugs and and sensors: Trigger-Wheels And then your choice of trigger wheel: Trigger-Wheels The talk to Mr Steveo about the magic that he did with this: ![]()

| I can't see... ![]() ![]() | Paul and Chris (Moby-Dick) came down this past weekend to get some brainstorming done. I have a little (big) list in my unit of stuff that needs to be done to get the car working and MOT'able, as I'm going to the Nurburgring at the end of July and I HAVE to take this car. Problem being is that I've pretty much run out of money. I have £10 left to my name right now and 1.5 weeks until payday, where I'll pay off my overdraft and that's about it. Sadly this means that my project has slipped into "budget" mode for the time being. My number one concern was the fact that we'd decided to go the pedal box route, as it was easiest option with the space issues we have (ie, can't fit brake booster and clutch master cylinder in the bay as the engine is in the way). The one that I wanted (after trying another) is £600. I don't have £600. Whilst mulling over this, I went to Tesco to get us some munchies. I came back to find Paul had done this... ![]() ![]() He's cut the bulkhead and raised the clutch master cylinder up a bit. We have to extend the pedal in the car to make it normal position again, but that's no biggy. The brake booster also now fits, thanks to some chopping of the cam cover. This has saved me a shitload of money, and means I can use the standard pedals, which are nice to use if im honest. ![]() So, out came the engine and box again for more fine adjustments... On these went. ![]() And some balls in Moby-Dick's face. ![]() Tonight the car goes to have its manifolds fabricated. It comes back in a week, then instantly gets shipped off to Phil LS to be wired up finally and forevreererly. Hoorah. Fingers crossed it will be alive in less than a month. |
