New project - Nissan Laurel

Hi Everyone,

I picked up the new project yesterday from Julian at Garage-D (Big thanks to him. Top bloke and knows his onions!) It'll be a bit of a work in progress for a while now and you guys can expect lots of questions!!! Here it is!

Plans are:
1. Lower it
2. Rims
3. Tidy up body work (+ bodykit...maybe)
4. Engine swap (Julian has got some ideas but we'll see how it goes!)

Open to sugestions on all the above so post pics, ideas, etc! I'll update here as and when I make any progress.

Dunc

a gold tissue box for the rear shelf would rock.

maybe a fair meter in the front.

Not sure but two women keep nagging me when I do things wrong. I'm pretty sure one is the missus but the other is coming from the car!

the woman is fricking annoying

"door is open", i know, i fricking opened it!
"fuel level is low" thats why im at the fricking petrol station!!!!

if you want some custom stylee suspension made up pm me and i'll show you where to get it. also is it IRS or self leveling at the rear? if its self leveling pull the fuse and drain the fluid for instant slam. theres no bodykits for it but would look mint with wiiiide 15's, bolt on arches and a lip spoiler

edit: dont engine swap. triple carbs ftw. Z Club is the place to be. and hack off the silencer shiz at the back where it bends accross and whack part no. U405120 off here on.
Jetex Custom Exhaust Parts - Build your own custom design for road, race or rally use... it will sound proper nice. mine did

Yeah, as Cookwobble says, sont add a bodykit. These sort of age luxo barges dont need em, The way they look at the moment with a good set of wide rims and bolt ons would look ACE, BGW and Kits in the bin for this car.

Get it lowered, get its nice and clean, do NOT strip it and just enjoy it!

You can do whatever you want to it though, it is your car but less is more n this!

Thanks guys,

I was thinking about some uber-wide 15s. Any ideas/pics of which ones?
I think you guys could be right about the bolt on arches and keeping it simple.

Cookwibble: Not sure of the suspension set up at the back, I'll have a look tonight. Very interested in the suspension contact mate!

Keep em coming peeps!

how deep are your pockets!

Theres loads of choice but anything that I could show you would be big bucks as you would really want some 15x8/8.5j to even come close to filling some flares etc.

but when you have the right wheels, thats the outside sorted.

Before you 'tidy the body work' make sure the wheels are on it that you want so you dont do arch work twice!

I very nearly made that mistake with the Mini i'm building for the missus last weekend!

"Hmmm...Fit these nice new arches to the nice new fiberglass front end and it'll be ready for the new wheels....which are nearly twice the width of the current ones.....hang on!!!"

Ended up cutting 2.5 inches out at the front. Thank F*** I realised!

exactly I did that with My corolla, painted all the underside of the car then realised I had to bash the shit out of the front inner arch section to fit my wider wheels!

15x8.5's will only just fill the standard arches with anything less than ET10!!! the standard wheels have a et17 offset iirc

Haha! I'd have lost the plot if I'd done that!!!

You think 15s are the way to go? Those are big arches! Or will the width make up for the lack of diameter? I love the very low, very wide look but not seen it on anything so...eer...BIG!

shit! There are large tubs them!

Maybe forget the bolt on arches then and just tease the lips out a touch and stick with some 15x8.5j??

I wouldnt wana go much bigger as you will be stretching the tyres on too much which effects handling (but looks good) or having balloon type tyres which just look shit!

Well if anyone's got any pics stick them up. Will 8.5 be wide enough? Got 7s on the mini!
