Update time!

Bit of a better day today. With the help of a glamorous assitant the cage is in and temporarily zip tied in place .

Ripping interior trim out rocks

Got to trim this dash to fit as a practice. I have a spare dash which I plan to get flocked and cut to fit.

The plan from here is to fix the seat back in, get the car to work and get the cage plates welded in and get it MOT'd while its there. Then swap out the turbo for a new one and remap. All in time for Norfolk Arena on the 23rd! Wish me luck .

These arrived on my doorstep this morning, fresh from Japan, courtesy of Stephen from SKAY. The man is a legend, what more can I say. Driving Sports and the future of their cars coming to the UK is in VERY safe hands .

So I now have a full set of gauges to replace the busted ones that came with the Silvia. Fingers crossed they all work now!

All 60mm EL2 gauges, as before, plus a spare control unit and all wires. The only thing not present is the senders but I have all them still fitted in the car from the other set. Complete set is Boost, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, EGT, Water Temp.

Agreed, quality simply isn't something that I'm skimping on on this car. Most things have been bought new or ex-display. If your going to do it, do it right.

Which leads me nicely onto a package I have arriving on Monday which should make things interesting Watch this space.

Bright and early this morning, Mr DHL arrived. More powers on their way

GT2871R 0.64 to replace the Apexi AX53B60 turbo [which will be for sale if anyone fancies an uber expensive turbo on the cheap to re-seal].

Actuator set to 0.7bar.

Let see how much I get done today, I'm hoping to get the driver's side flared arch weather tight [as Ive done the passenger one] and get the dash and interior back in ready to MOT. Anyone know if the harnessess I have will pass MOT?

Busy busy day!

Dash is back in, holes hacked away. Some tidying to do but I guesstimated the holes about right so it turned out OK.

Gauges all wired up and most importantly WORKING! They rock, they have a lovely peak hold function that can be recalled at the touch of a button on the control unit so you can see what happened the second before your engine went pop . They also have a warn function so I'm after some advice on this -
  • At what EGT should I be worried that my car will melt?
  • At what water temp should I be worried?
  • At what Oil Temp should I be frightened?
  • At what Oil Pressure should I be concerned?

Just so I can set the warn lights up right The only other thing that concerns me is the Oil pressure warni light flashes until you start the car, dunno why?

Didn't get as far as doing the arch today or putting the seats/harnesses in but I'll get them done before the weekend.

Pictures!

Lights off.

Lights on.

Jord, set the warnings to the following:
EGT: 900
Water: 100 (assuming youre running a rad and the temp sensor is in the top hose)
Oil: 100 (assuming the temp sender is in the sump itself, not using an adapter)
Oil P: 1.5 bar

When warm and idling, about 2 bar. 5-6bar immediately at cold is nice too

Done some small jobs this evening, got back in about an hour ago and I'm fooooked.
Mostly MOT prep stuff this evening.

Driver's Harness in, using eyebolts for now until the cage plates are welded in. Then I'll use the harness bar. Im hoping they will pass the harness through MOT. I'm also leaving the passenger seat and seatbelt off the car for MOT as it easier than fiddling about with running a harness on a stocku seat. [I still need to find a nice recliner for the passenger side that I like].

Managed to speak to RAC Autoglass today, new screen is on the way, hopefully quickly. They wouldn't take my word that the screen was the same as the UK 200SX S13 even though I told them it'd save them alot of time if they just trusted me on it! Oh, well hopefully they'll struggle to find a PS13 screen and resort to using a UK one.

The car is going over to Garage Rippledrift early next week for Mr Smith [senior] to fit the GT2871R. Then I've got to find time to get it MOT'd and mapped ready for next Saturday. All of this is dependant on the screen obviously as no screen = no mot = no mapping = no Norfolk Arena.

On last shot before closing up for the night.

And a quick walk-around video I did of the car in its current state. I'm pleased its coming together slowly, I get very little free time to work on the car so small advances mean I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. Excuse the smoke pouring from the exhaust because of the turbo and the extremely untidy garage, its mostly my brother's crap!

Last minute rush! I'm trying to get to licensing on Saturday at Norfolk Arena!

Car is at Garage Rippledrift waiting on fannymold and downpipe gaskets which I ordered yesterday from Apex Performance. Then the turbo is on.

Booked in with Steve Sadler for mapping on Friday afternoon over in Wellingborough on another Dyno Dynamics dyno so results will be comparible with the Apexi turbo. Then, all being well this time I'll be at Norfolk Arena on Saturday morning!

The screen is still busted but f*ck it .

Maybe Im the only one reading this now, who knows?

Actuator still isn't playing ball, check it.

So I've e-mailed Turbo Dynamics to see if they can swap my actuator for a side-feed one as theres no way this one will fit.

In other news my Sparco Rev turned up from the Bargain Bin today, its nearly bloody new! Mint. Was going to use a recliner for the passenger side but sod practicality, its only 4 bolts if I want it out the way. FIA FTMFW.

Hopefully I'll have an actual update soon.

I had thought about that, the trouble is I'd have to get a new silicon reducer at the right angles etc to make it work. The pipe after that blue silicon reducer is alloy and is bolted dow at the other end. I think if TD will change my actuator then it should work fine. I hope.

Matt from TD has sorted me out a side feed actuator, will be here tomorrow. Excellent service as ever. .

Hopefully car will be good to go by the weekend!

Steering wheel is from one of my sponsors, Ebay.

Your car's awesome, nice one.

Don't want to sound like a dick, but I really hope you don't have any sponsers - purely because it looks so mint with just a clean exterior.

New turbo is on after some very weird problems. Thanks to Roger @ Garage RippleDrift for bearing with it

Car got it brand new screen today but failed MOT this afternoon. Luckily just on minor points - one numberplate bulb, one brakelight bulb, one sidelight bulb and both headlamps not functioning correctly. The beam pattern is wrong on the lamps and I dunno if just swaping the bulbs for some new ones will fix it? Try it and see I guess! At this rate I'll be ready for Silverstone this Saturday!

I found out today that the car has next to NO lock at the moment. Can't wait to get rid of this HICAS crap and get some angle.

Lol, theres only so many things he can turn a blind eye too, considering he hates modified cars, HATES my clutch, HATES how low my car is, HATES the fact my tyres are too thin. I didn't do too badly on bulbs
