Progress update! What a last few days I've had! Bodged the bulbs/lamps to pass MOT, spent last night till about 10:30pm round a workmate's house while he welded the cage plates in place, got tax today and finished bolting the rear legs of the cage through at about 5:30pm today, shot over to Spalding to pick passenger seat, harnesses, tools and spare tyres up from my folks, while I did that Paul Smith fitted some 245s on my spare drift rims, drove back over to Peterborough, picked the car up from work, put the passenger seat and harness in, refixed the driver's harness using the harness bar and finally loaded up the car! Some points to note -
I'm going to either need some small spacers for the front wheels or look at getting some 9Js for the front and then using the 9.5s for the back only. Anyway, I was due to be having the car road-mapped by Mr Sadler this evening but its a bit late for the drive down to North London so he has agreed to map it tommorrow morning at Silverstone so I can FINALLY get drifting again. Wish me luck, I bet something breaks. |

Update again! Due to prior commitments Steve couldn't make it up to Silverstone yesterday so he very kindly agreed to meet us at South Mimms services in the morning to do some road mapping. After an hour or so up and down the A1 the car is running very nicely and shit the bed its fast. He mapped it up to 1.5 bar and the pull in 3rd and 4th is awesome, so much so that I kept hitting the rev limiter as theres no drop-off in boost at the redline! After Steve had it running right we shot round the M25 and up the M1 and arrived at Silverstone just as lunch was finishing. Some minor adjustments to the car, namely front spacers to clear the coilovers and a hammer session to the front arches [cheers for the loan Rads s13 [I think?]] and we were good to go. We turned the boost down to about 1.2 bar as it was soaking wet and didn't want to risk doing any damage as the knock readings were getting high whilst drifting. Didn't get a massive amount of track time but got a feel for the car and most importantly got my Pro license! .After yesterday's session the car is in desperate need of more lock so I am going to swap the quick-rack out for a standard UKS13 rack and swap all the fancy bits over between the two - Tein rods, spacers and anti-bump steer ends. Steve is going to finish the map on the dyno one day soon so I will have a power reading then. Al in all, a good day, heres some pictures, some from me and some from AndyC ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Jord; 09-03-2008 at 21:06. |

. I believe its less turns lock to lock than a standard rack, which certainly seems the case. However as standard the HICAS rack has less lock than a standard rack - you need to add the bits Ive got to make the lock as good as a standard rack - Tein rods/rack spacers etc.Cheers guys | |

Cheers for the positive comments everyone, much appreciated. Yeah, well, ET+7 including spacers. Got to address some catching issues at the front though so may be going to the 9J front wheel. On a seperate note I'm addressing the little bits that need doing for Round One. Ten points to whoever guesses what this cool little bit of kit is. It has nothing/very little to do with bondage . |
