Honing the cylinders is to give a better surface for lubrication etc, if they are shiney they glaze easyer etc. If its just to give a surface finish you don`t need to djust piston or ring sizes.

This is from a tech page:-

Classic Techniques: Cylinder Bore Honing - RealClassic.co.uk

Quote:
Honing is the final process used in the machining of cylinder bores, either during manufacture or in re-sizing (re-boring). Honing is used as a process to both remove the final amount of metal to get a cylinder bore to within the required size limits, and to put a surface on the cylinder bore which will give good life span, and aid lubrication and oil consumption characteristics in use.

OEM SR20DET Pistons

Also honing takes a fair amount of time to remove 10th of a thousand of an inch, so you can break them fine, alto 45 degree cross hatch is prefered for best oil retention

If i was you mr.polo, i would check how much back lash you have on the transmision parts, i.e shafts and stuff, you may find they have so much slack in them now they are aiding your gearbox issues.

carbon propshaft ftw

Guys you all know i would run more boost if i could but the poxy stock coils cant cope!

The unsprung clutch, its what Apex sent me, should be intresting

Clarkey, there is loads of backlash every where in the transmision! shafts, diff etc, quick changes FTW The shafte espesh, 3 years of mig diff and clutch kicking!
