I need to do a big update to the thread, basically the shell is now back and with custom weld in cage.

After 3 attempts at mounting the seats we have now removed the standard seat crossmember and bolted straight to the floor to get them nice and low.

Steering column is now remounted to the new dash bar

Front tubs are in, rears arches are cut, fillets to stop delaminated tyres taking out the over fenders are in, and rear over fenders are fitted.

Gay rear parcel shelf is in the bin to make way for the cage and new light weight fire wall (which is also fitted).

Custom front strut brace is in, welded into the bulkhead and strut tops.

All the spare internal bracketsfor handbrake ect are in the bin.

Front crossmember has been changed for a straight one

Engine has been trial built and has been fitted with box involving plenty of transmission tunnel bashing.

The rear floor is currently out as is all the extra rear panel bracing we dont need and the floor will hopefully go back in tonight (jeffers is making a really nice profiled floor out of 1mm steel).

I have am busy choping up the Apexi GT spec and will be cutting the holes in the rear quarter tonight.

All the arms are stripped ready to be shot blasted and painted.

I need to chase Sumo to see if the Kit is in the country yet

So its coming on well will add pics soon.

Was it done down with Endaf at Owens Fabrication? I didn't get a chance to pop down there to have a look.

Yes he did a great job with the cage (thankyou for the contact details), we were going to get him to do more but he was rushed off his feet to get cars finished for the autosports show.

Is yours going to be out this year?

Just after Christmas we made the journey to Wales to get the car back from Endaf also dropping the green 14a at Fishguard to be collected. He had not quite got everything done unfortunately due to all the cars he'd been doing for Autosport, but we were desperate to get stuck in so we took it as it was.

The main cage was in, as were the front tubs cage is fairly standard, door bars and cross behind main hoop linking to tops of rear turrets. We have also tied the front turrets in with some diagonals that extend upwards and through the front bulkhead. Webbing was added
for additional support and bling

Before and After

We loaded up and headed home. We decided to do all initial mucky work like welding and grinding at the unit so my Rush didnt get sprayed with sparks or recieve any dents etc so we emptied the unit of scrap cars and made it into a make-shift workshop as we only expected to be there a week or so...LOL ! normal business service shall resume shortly

We both took a few days off work and got stuck in with some very looong days and nights at the unit. Both seats now have mount positions, here is drivers seat in position after lots effort and trial fits with Scott (with helmet on) sitting in it, also the steering column now has supports welded to the cross bar and the boss has arrived although we need to get a round wheel for Scotts preference. Driver seat is adjustable as is the angle of the steering wheel so me and Dave can
drive the car on practice days, the passenger is notionally fixed but can be moved.

Dave spent a couple of days tubbing the rear arches (no pics!) and trial fitting and trimming the overfenders and a wheel.

Rear

Front

The engine and gearbox have been in and out a few times now, here it is a little dressed up for the pic.

And thats all for now, needless to say we have been working our asses off on it, every night till 11pm and all weekends, which means a lot of
grief off the gf's, but it will all be worth it Scott comes down as much as possible when he isnt not away with work on some driving jolly
in Spain or Germany !

LOADS more stuff has been done but I'll do a more detailed
write-up after its painted and it looks a bit better

Good work there! You can always rely on Endaf doing a good job.

Just one more, this pic dues not do justice to the work involved to fit this, the corner is ground down to exactly match the profile of the turret. Then Fully TIG welded in. The main bar that ties into the scuttle also has part of the back removed so it can lay flat with the majority of bulkhead that doesn't stick out.

The seam in at the back of the engine also had to be cut off and seam welded. The engine is that tight against the rear bulkhead

Sexy inlet mani

May be hard to skid with steering wheel in that postion - my top tip is to adjust it up a few inches

Thankyou for all the comments, does anyone have any good suggestions for cool looking power bulges as it looks likely the cam cover right at the front wont clear the bonnet.

Or we may have to drop the front subframe an inch, which I think will improve the roll centre position in the same way as Phils Uber expensive hubs

The front pics also the wheel with 30mm spacers and 245/40/18's, I can go to 20mm spacers but does anyone know if 235/35 or 30's will stretch over to give a bit more arch clearance?

Will get some more pics up over the weekend

Wait till you see it built up with super charger and custom NA big bore up and over exhaust manifold.

Everything on the car has to be either black, white or polished.

I just dropped all the arms off to be sandblasted and plastic coated, even all the Cusco bits. Hopefully it will look very understated when back together.

Thought I would add a note to the thread to see if anyone can help us with the loan of a Rb26 head for 2 weeks it would be greatly appreciated.

The current engine thats in needs to come out for machining and final build and we need to build a new dummy engine to send away with the car to the exhaust manifold fabricators, we have a spare RB30 but dont have any Rb26 heads, can anyone help?

Cool project.
Hmm RB30 in a s body, can anyone say Mel systems

Re tyres sounds about right to me. The pic of your front wheels defo looks like you can easily drop a size of tyre if your happy losing some rubber on the road. Although 235 up fronts isnt tiny lol.
